That will suck for people if all the Crows games are on two hour delay on FTA with the new TV rights deal, but honestly if you're a fan footy then Foxtel/Kayo has been essential for years.
They just about are now. I hardly see any away games as we've already lost before they are on TV.

Still way too close to ours tbh

Do these figures include things like three-game memberships and dog memberships?

It’s the AFL audited ones. Pets are out but I think 3 games are in. Not sure if it includes 3 game memberships sold for the round 23 showdown.

Port Powah were selling 1 game memberships for the Showdown, these would be included in the AFL's rubbery figures.

The only membership number that makes any sense is 11 game members, make all the 6,3,1 game members FTE.

Or go the other way and say an 11 game membership is 11 members - yes that's ridiculous but no more ridiculous than lumping 3 game member numbers with 11 game member numbers.

A Port Powah supporter that buys 3 x 3 game passes is counted as three members.

OR the AFL publish total membership revenue per club.

With the extra revenue for the tv rights, should the afl look to getting more supporters into the grand final instead of corporate people who have no emotional investment in the match?

I dumped Fox for Kayo this year.

It’s fine but theres potential for it to fail. Sometimes the app gets glitchy, I’ve also had crap a quality stream and buffering during a game once. Internet is fine. The dish felt a lot more stable.
We did too. Foxtel spent an hour trying to talk me out of it (given that we'd been with them for 16 years). In the end they were offering two new IQ boxes, and all these extras for $43 a month (had previously been paying double that). I said if you can match the KAYO charges of $35 a month, I'll stay. So he said "So for the sake of $8 a month you'd give that all up?" and I said "so for the sake of $8 a month, you'd let us walk?" **** em. I'd rather not be with anything Murdoch owned, but access to footy is difficult.

Fox absolutely s** me.

Had it for 20+ years, mainly because of the Footy; the overseas test cricket; other sports and other channels. .

Every year I have to ring them and beg for a discount (I've got all channels). The fact that you've been with them for 20 years means SFA.......they usually come around in the end but its harder to convince them these days than it was 7-8 years ago.

I wont give it up as FTA is crap (I don't watch any FTA at all). But surely they could give their long term subscribers some discount? I am going to drop some of the channels as I never watch them soon.

PS on that last point, I did see a promo last year that for long term subscribers, you could get an extra IQ box for nothing. I rang them as I ticked all the boxes to be eligible...except that I am a Foxtel from Telstra customer so that fact exempted me from the promo. I asked the Rep on the phone if they would take the length of me being a customer into consideration but no, they wouldn't because I am billed via Telstra and not Foxtel directly....

I have Kayo for watching the AFL, V8 Supercars, F1 and Cricket. I also used to watch the WRC, but that's another of the sports which are no longer on Foxtel.

If Foxtel loses the AFL, then the other sports don't hold a strong enough attraction for me to justify paying the subscription. I suspect there are a LOT of customers in the same boat - both with Kayo and Foxtel.

The AFL is crucial to their entire business plan. Lose it, and they could easily lose 30-50% of their subscription base almost overnight. For that reason, Foxtel will do virtually anything to ensure that they retain the AFL rights. It's an existential issue for the whole company.

Yeah this is pretty much it. I watch F1 and cricket because they're there but wouldn't subscribe just for them. If they lost AFL it'd lose its value to me immediately.

It used to be any membership that involved a stake of $50 or greater was counted in the AFL audit.

That was a number of years ago now so it's potentially increased since then.

It's any membership worth $50 or more. Doesn't even require game access any more since covid

Lol. I can't believe you even asked that. What do you think the answer will be?

So with all the backslapping that's about to occur over the TV rights deal, what do you think old Gil the dill will have sold out from under us supporters for the extra $$$?

Will be interesting to see what the fine print is
Exclusive live rights on Saturday for Foxtel first 8 rounds I just heard him say, except 'local teams except for select matches'.
