People like to criticise Masten for being a pick 3, but Scully's essentially the same player but taken at pick 1.

Bombs it high and long far too often. Well played to the roos though. He barely got any space tonightThought they were gonna be such a threat when they got Scully cheap
He was pretty trash tonight at key moments

to old, most kids B grade when the heat is onThat essentially ends Hawthorn's finals chances
Hawthorn featured 8 players aged beyond 30 in last night's match - a record in the modern era (you have to go back to the period of players returning from WW2 to find an example surpassing this).
Burgoyne, Puopolo, Birchall, Henderson, Frawley, Smith, Stratton and McEvoy.
Massive turnover coming for the Hawks at the end of the season.
Will be interesting to see what they try to do during the trade period.
Had access to some really good draft picks back in the early-mid 00s though. He’ll go down the trade and free agency path this time around. Coniglio etcThe remnants of the threepeat.
An unbelievable side worthy of being in the debate for GOAT premiership eras but that was four years ago now. I am however fairly confident Clarko knows how to manage a rebuild - he's done it before.
Burgoyne retire, Puopolo retire/move on, Birchall 50/50, Henderson keep, Frawley keep but phase out, Smith keep or 50/50, Stratton keep but phase out, McEvoy keep but phase out.Hawthorn featured 8 players aged beyond 30 in last night's match - a record in the modern era (you have to go back to the period of players returning from WW2 to find an example surpassing this).

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Hawks are going about it all wrong by targeting and over paying for certain players. The addition of JOM, Scully, Wingard etc is different to how they previously built their list. Building lists is done primarily by drafting players and topping up through trade and free agency. The problem they will continue to have is that their A graders will be surrounded by C graders and they will continue to be a mid-low range team. The issue with AFL is that it’s a best 22 not a best 11 or whatever other sports have. Given injuries are also unavoidable you need probably 30 Capable players to make a serious tilt. I don’t see the hawks getting anywhere near that with their current strategy. I hope west coast continues to hit the draft hard!
I'm pretty sure anyone who goes to the James Hird Academy would actually be jacked up enough to be able to run through a wall. Some people have strong feelings about the giant Eagles’ head replacing a banner. A quick look at today’s efforts:
Port - “Port Adelaide footy is what we’re about. Strike the Bombers out.”
Essendon - “James Hird Academy. Yesterday’s legends, tomorrow’s stars.”
Inspiring stuff, brb just going to run through a wall because I’m so pumped up.

Essendon’s percentage is probably too low to trouble anyone but Richmond and Collingwood, so we sort of want them to win here, no? Keeps multiple teams (GWS, Essendon) ready to pounce on those sides?
Result of this game has very little baring on us. Don’t like either side much so a draw would be fun
I’ve tipped port so go power I guess
