Oppo Camp Non-Eagles Discussion

It's funny but also confounding. They've selected so much young talent over 5 years, have an experienced coach and yet can't compete at all. I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to rebuild through the draft anymore.

If you look at the last few wooden spooners, Adelaide and us have gotten off the canvas by having experienced players that are fit and in form, combined with youngsters starting to step up. North cut all their experience away and look completely stuffed.

The only similar situation I can think of is Carlton and Brissy, and they copped a decade of irrelevance before good trades got them the experience they needed.
Yeah they look like their young talent needs another year but you would have said that last year. I don't know where the next win comes from. They challenge in patches but winning a half looks beyond them. They look to have won the last quarter but it's been cue in the rack time for Port. They are yet to concede under 100 points this year. One win out of 32 is really really bad.

Some bizarre coaching moves from Dimma in that match against Carlton.

Allows 18 year old J.Walter to be marked up by J.Weitering, arguably the best full back in the competition, then subs him out early after having no impact.

With J.Walter off, J.Lukosius goes deeper forward and can't support J.Witts in the ruck anymore, prompting M.Andrew to be used there despite that meaning moving him away from C.Curnow who had been shut out until that point.

Freed from M.Andrew, C.Curnow gets going, and now with his confidence high, moving M.Andrew back again does nothing to contain him.

A.Davies then gets punted around filling gaps, running between ruck and deep forward, despite being ill-suited to either - he doesn't even get a disposal during the second half.

All the while the substitute, 172cm J.Rogers, is sent on-ball to change a match where the 195cm P.Cripps is dominating stoppages... He finishes with 2 disposals.

1-31 in their last 32.
4-46 in their last 50.
15-1-84 in their last 100.

Simply heck off.
Shifting them to be the new Tasmania team just seems a very obvious solution.
  • keeps an even number of teams in the comp
  • less draft compromising to build Tasmania's team as they can start with North's list
  • North have already been playing games there for a decade.
  • one less poverty club for the rest of the league to prop up.

And everyone knows it. More obvious than South Melbourne to Sydney, more obvious than Fitzroy to Brisbane.

Even deep in their collective tiny little hearts the Norf supporters know it too. They'll never admit it, but deep down inside where lies cannot survive they know it's true.

But the AFL won't let it happen.

What other options did Cadman have apart from hand ball fwd and try running onto it?

He was basically out of bounds already

Really harsh decision
