Righto Maths guru's, what sort of win do we need to overtake Norf?
Five goals, plus an extra point for every Footscray goal.

Not a good time to be getting ahead of oneself though, can only afford to drop a single game for the rest of the season.

Get with the program! Both Geelong and the Hawks lose 3 more games (They do actually play at least 3 hard games each). Port loses 2.
We win all 6 and take 4th spot.
Easy

Winning all six, including Sydney in Sydney? Ummm

They will drop one, whether it's against us or not remains to be seen, hopefully they have a bit of a flat game after there blockbuster against the Hawks and we do get them off a 6 day longer break.

I have a good feeling about Sydney at the SCG. Our defensive pressure will operate beautifully on the small ground, at the same time restricting the impact of Buddy/Tippett.

I have a sneaky touch of optimism about our chances if we can maintain this intensity and defence

I never enjoy seeing Carlton win...

But last night was important for us. And games like that further underlined why North Melbourne will have no impact on September... they should still get there with their predictably soft draw.

Will we take our big chance against the Bulldogs? Recent history suggests we will probably find a way to f**k it up.

So I just saw last nights result.
Did the board go into meltdown last night?
On a good note McIlroy leading the Open and I'm going out to lunch and tonight the Open is on and I miss another game of the AFL.
And the best thing is I don't even care that I'm not watching the non Bombers play

Ha ha.....

Much as I am sinking the boots into Malthouse for being a precious feminine hygiene product; you have to admit no one else in the industry treats the media with anywhere near as much contempt as we feel for them.

He is the only guy that treats the media with the contempt that most of them deserve.

the *best* thing about that Carlscum win.. is knowing that they might have another 'late season' run of meaningless wins.. that convinces their delusional hierarchy they are 'close' to a premiership and hence they keep their pathetic list for one year longer...

Their once-in-a-lifetime-AFL-gifted-SOB-BS-tainted 'finals' appearance last year convinced these clowns (and Richmond for that matter) that they have some 'talent'... lolololololol

Oh and North... you have found a different way to be chokers this year.. well done!

Ideal result. North take a percentage hit, Carlton win, and will continue to persist with their vast assortment of shit footballers as a consequence.

There is no chance of that happening. If Malthouse is there they'll continue to build the list.

If Mick isn't there cue the knee jerk reaction. They'll probably just sack everyone.

So fourth spot anyone? Anyone daring to dream?

Would rather finish 5th, get a game on the hallowed turf in week 1 and back ourselves to keep winning games (especially against 3rd or 4th after an interstate pummeling).

Imagine getting a Hawthorn or a Geelong at the G in a semi. Obviously there is a risk we go interstate anyway.

I have no problem with how malthouse deals with the media. After what we have put up with since February last year, I'm happy for them to be treated like crap.

There are so many out there and many of them make a living writing or looking at the negatives.

We planning to beat Sydney...we shoul win the others but I'm not hopeful on that one

I can't see how it would ever be correct to finish 5th over 4th. There's too much upside to winning in the first week at heading straight to a prelim even if it was like 30% chance of happening.

Not to mention the little matter of a double chance.....and the scoreline between 5 v 8 finals being 7 wins each.

The other thing that annoys me is that the media tend to be too stupid to realise that Malthouse is playing them anyway. How many questions about the quarter of the list, that he inherited, that is barely AFL standard has he fielded in the last month?

If Carlton are really feeling the heat and have asked Malthouse to change I'd be disappointed. We've bent over to public expectation in the last 18 months. It is really just Collingwood that has the balls to tell everyone else to **** off. It is not befitting Essendon or Carlton to give too shits about what other clubs or the football public at large think.
