Certainly don't think Dangerfield to Geelong is inevitable and a foregone conclusion, especially given the form that Adelaide has showcased early. Definitely think he's more interested in a premiership rather than any extra coin that may be thrown his way by other sides throughout the league.

Yeah, I couldn't see it happening but you really do never know.

Just heard Michael Close has torn his ACL - it didn't really look that serious. Poor bloke, I hope the rehabilitation goes well and that he can be back early next year. He certainly looks a player.

Brisbane furious at the turf thats been laid near the boundry line. They are blaming that for the incident

Sportsbet offering a side-market to the Coleman: JJK vs. Betts vs. Waite vs. Garlett vs. Any Current Carlton Player. Savage.

They should do a market JJK, Betts, Waite, Garlett combined Vs Carlton total goals for the year.

JJK will win it by the length of the straight.

(Geelong)
- they are going to slide fairly quickly.
- Patrick Dangerfield could set the Cats for another flag chance.

You must think Dangerfield to be one of the greatest players ever for those two not to be mutually exclusive.

Malthouse will be good for them in the long run, just not in his tenure.

Apparently what he walked into was as dire as what Hird/Thompson walked into after Knights.

Hit the nail on the head - Coaches/Recruiters have only had limited influence in how Carlton builds its list - I thought a coach of Malthouse's status would overcome these obstacles, and rebuild the team when he took over - Malthouse has a proven record in developing young talent.

Carlton needs the coaching and recruiting department to have total independence.

Interesting article on Gaz on AFL site. I know its Doc larkins who is an absolute potato alot of the time but there is some interesting information in there.

I had no idea Ablett was so against all the medical stuff. I knew he was pretty strict with his diet and stuff but i thought that was more to do with being an elite athlete.

Old Brisvegas wants $100,000 compo for Close's injury from Ethiad stadium. Do people know why there is such a thickness of plastic grass around all grounds? It was always going to be an issue one day.

Heard on the radio that for Etihad they can't get the hydro lamps that close enough to the fence so rather than have dead/no grass around the boundary they put down artifiical turf.

I can't say I've heard anything for any other stadium. Do they even have it, other than the rub down areas in front of the benches?

The turf was laid with the combined agreement of AFL, the stadium and I believe the AFLPA.

This matter will probably be settled privately and we will never hear of it again.

The AFLPA? We can rest assured that due diligence was undertaken and that the matter was given careful consideration.

Expect the PA to issue a statement criticising the AFL, Etihad, Hird and questioning whether Close will ever be able to walk again (because we know how they like to fight the 'good fight' for their players).

Edit: sorry, how can the PA be critical of the organisation that installs it's puppet leaders.

Well MCG has it too, but they run the lamps as well.

Gabba does I think, also with Perth. Actually they mostly do I'd say

Really? Well there ya go, you learn something new every day.

For stadiums that can actually get sun going all the way to the boundary line for a fair chunk of the day it'd be overkill you'd think.
