which makes it interesting how 2 teams that rely on AFL handouts in the dogs and Melbourne would be allowed a team in a league that will ultimately bleed money
They obviously won't be funding it. They did the groundwork over the past couple of years and were rewarded with licences.

for the most part he's being a realist... There is not a chance the standard will even be close to a country squads reserve grade.
However if you can look past the drop in quality and take it for what it is it could be enjoyable.

On the womens soccer team, even though they trialled players the girls that played were still in and around the top of womens soccer... and they got pumped by an u/15s club side. there is no excuse you can make for that.

The USA women's team (who were world champions at the time) played a friendly a few years back against the USA U-17 men's team.
They lost 8-2.

Canadian womens team played against a Canadian u/15 provincial team and lost 5-2

Swedish womens team lost 3-0 to a local u/17s team, playing with 10 men for the game after the womens coach requested they drop a defender

The Warroad High School boys' team squeaked out a 2-1 victory over the U.S. Olympic women's hockey team in 2006

The Canadian womens national ice hockey team plays in a local Midget AAA league (15-17 year old boys) in Calgary, Alberta. They have finished last in the league every year. Despite winning gold at the last 4 Olympic Games.

in Tennis, Karsten Braasch ranked #203 in the world beat both Williams sisters in a one set exhibition match, Serena 6-1 and Veuns 6-2

On this point I can't agree. There's a difference between being a 'realist' & being 'bloody minded/ignorant.'

My Grandad didn't eat chicken because according to him 'it was for Asians.' Doesn't mean chicken is crap, or only for Asian people, it just means it's not for everyone, including mildly racist returned soldiers from WWII.

I get & accept Women's AFL won't be for everyone, but having a close minded attitude is a sad thing to have.

its not being bloody minded or ignorant as you put it... its having a sound understanding of human biology and the limitations the female gender has on physical output.
Males are designed to be stronger, faster etc... which obviously translates to being better at sport.

There is not one Olympic sport (that you can compare) where a female record is better than the record of the same mens event.

If people want to watch the womens league... great... happy days, but the same reason I wont watch it (save for some GWS games) is the same reason I dont watch the VFL... or the SANFL... or the A-League.... or the NBL, much better quality leagues of the same sport to watch elsewhere

As I said, I accept it's not for everyone. Cheers.

Fair enough... that's your prerogative.
But this stems back to RearNaked post about the reasons he won't watch it, for his opinion is that the quality is worse than the bush leagues, to which I agree.
You went on the attack and called him closed minded etc... really surprised you didn't throw in some other key words like bigoted or sexist.

If you want to watch it, go ahead and get them feels that you're helping equality, but no need to hate on people who see no benefit in watching a product which is physically and skillfully no-where near AFL standard

I thought we were having a conversation free of passive aggressive behaviour however you've turned this on it's head by responding at the end there in a way that was completely unnecessary.

Firstly, RearNaked, I'm sure can fight his own battles and doesn't need someone to do it for him.

Secondly, yeah I might have initially been peeved at his overall general attitude however I'm allowed to be. His responses were pretty ignorant and all I ever did was ask the question. FWIW I wasn't the only person who disagreed with him on his view however if you felt my line of questioning was harsh please report my posts to Doss, Beerfish et al.

Thirdly as per his response to my query I left it at that until you took up the 'holier than thou' torch. My response to your good self simply and clearly outlined both my and Rearnakeds positions.

All you've done since is reply in a very passive aggressive manner, to which I've only stated I disagreed with you and nothing else, until your final reply where you just couldn't hold it in anymore and have shown your true colours.

We are allowed to agree and disagree with each other on here however if you want to make it personal well that's up to your good self.

Oh, everytime I look at you
I feel so low I don't know what to do...

  • Jenkins is actually a good player
  • Brisbane aren't going well
  • The previous praise for the return of Carlton arrogance is hereby rescinded and the question is raised of how a shit side can be beaten
  • Wild guess: Cloke's playing future at Collingwood is in doubt
  • Normal programming will be interrupted to address a very special point made by a very special person:
Basically, what Damien Barrett is saying here in his weekly statement on the EFC is that due to the EFC's most grievous breach of AFL rule 1.campaigner or whatever it was, for which it has been summarily penalised in 2013 by the executive, and due to the charge of doping offence for which punishment is currently being served, that the club should now be subject to a sort of Mad Max level of anarchy and that there should be no rules, that there should be no observance of contractual obligation or that there should be any parameters around this club's involvement in the AFL. That, basically, we can forget about double jeopardy and should be anticipating infinite jeopardy for the club's most horrific maybe crime.

I feel it is important to highlight this as this person is being paid to ejaculate this frothy opinion onto an expectant internet on the executive's website. I cannot be reductive about this statement; the vituperation that courses through this rodent is nothing short of staggering. That he benefits financially from these thoughts is repugnant and downright heinous, but those transgressions are decidedly mild when one considers that nature has seen fit to afford this bilious trail of toad shit the capacity to breathe, let alone walk and talk. It would be forgivable if the bespectacled little collection of toenail gunk had the prowess to be even remotely entertaining from time to time - the host body known as Craig Hutchison has managed to be vaguely amusing at a staggering rate of once per decade, which is a 3,720% increase on The Growth Known As Damien.

I submit that football does not profit from playing host to "personalities" such as this, but perhaps football is tough enough. Perhaps football can sustain this. Can you imagine what would happen if this mobile pustule turned his attention to fields more worthy of someone as dynamic as he? Fields and groups such as the model train community? Bronies? Soccer? These noble arts and enthusiasms would surely buckle, wither, and die if they had to absorb this Peasant Sarcoptes Scabiei. No, my friends, perhaps this is the noble sacrifice that football shall have to weather up until the point that someone accidentally brutally steps in him. When that day comes my friends then there shall be a wonderful Ewok dance, probably complete with a 1997 montage of the other planets. Until then we must soldier on.
  • If a player wants to continue with a new contract, they should try and play well
  • Sometimes football doesn't make sense
  • Good players don't want to play for shit sides
  • Greene is a good player
  • Hawthorn are a good side
  • Gawn is a good player
  • North Melbourne would be well advised to win football games if it would like to maintain its ladder position
  • Fremantle mysteriously came good when everyone was talking about the tanking (NB: The bespectacled toenail gunk has not made this observation, as it would have required the basest level of insight. Instead he submits that Fremantle are harder to beat than they were a fortnight ago. Well done.)
  • It is entirely possible that Dustin Martin will win the Brownlow; TAB are opening new markets on the likelihood of Martin glassing McAvaney at the end
  • Jack Steven will be given the captaincy in 2017, unless he isn't
  • Mackenzie is a dubious prospect
  • lol boyd
