It seems a lot more likely that the umpire said "we didn't pay a free kick because Lindsay Thomas ducked" than "we didn't pay a free kick because Lindsay Thomas is a ducker" - or even if they did say the latter, they were referring to Lindsay being a ducker on that occasion (which he was). When the message is being relayed by a frustrated North player, I could easily see it being misrepresented. Far more likely scenario than the umpire admitting to a North player that he won't pay another North player free kicks on the basis of his reputation.
