And of course saying we should have kept Jenkins would mean we probably wouldn't have got Jackson Merrett 10 places later in the draft.

Nice to see the big man take the Pies apart though. That fend off and snap while being tackled (by a different player) was just brutal.

See your point.. still think we should have kept Jenkins.

You seem to have a pretty good track record of remembering all the correct things we should have done years ago that would have worked out for us these days. Quite remarkable really.

Doesn't nearly everyone on here though?

I mean, there's self back patting about things that are reasonable. But to suggest trading Jenkins, a rookie listed surplus tall at the time with our crop of senior listed talls we did have - who likely you had very little info on unless you watched all the vfl games and went to training sessions is a whole other level of back patting.

I agree re Jenkins, I don't think anyone really batted an eyelid when we let him go, but everyone is revisionist on this site, or so it seems.

All I was suggesting is that I did bat an eyelid.. at the time.

Please, Jenkins is pure revisionism. Who here was going to offer him a senior contract when Adelaide came knocking? Who were we going to delist?

So does it all mean that the basketball convert is now a more natural forward that Carlisle is too?

When we move the ball forward it looks like we are playing on one of those post stamps in New Zealand. Last night the Adelaide oval looked bigger than Waverley for the Adelaide forwards.

I don't think Jenkins is a 'natural' forward.. but he works hard, has good vision, understands leading patterns and CREATED space for himself, and the other forwards, but repeat leading due to his high endurance levels.

If being a forward was easy.. everyone would do it!

Our forward line doesn't have space for two reasons.. firstly we bring the ball in slowly and shitly.. and secondly because our forwards don't lead up hard enough and thus don't create space behind them for the next player to lead into.. nor do they lead hard to wide positions, nor are they 'good' enough to warrant the covering defenders to be drawn wide to cover their leads..

In regards to our game plan. Once we move the ball quickly, we have an open forward half and allow our forwards a better chance 1:1.

As soon as we start chipping around in the back half, numbers flood back and we struggle for run and carry, taking risks and the game on.

Dempsey is our key now. He is the one who runs and carries, and takes the game on. If he can, then hopefully Zaka can find some form and others can follow suit.

Adelaide also smashed Collingwood in the midfield, moved the ball quickly and directly, and didn't give the Pies time to set up. When they dawdled, Collingwood pushed everyone back, withstood immense pressure from Adelaide, then carved them on the rebound. It's absolutely no coincidence that Collingwood's periods of dominance coincided with Adelaide's poor ball movement, be it either slow or missing targets, and that Adelaide's dominance was predicated on their quick and effective ball movement. Hopefully Bomber and Goody were watching very closely.

Know that he didn't play alone hand but Dangerfield was incredible last night.

Really rolled his sleeves up and did all of the dirty work required particularly in the back half. Really impressive from a guy how is arguably the most damaging attacking midfielder in the game.

Or they could just watch tape of our games from Rounds 1-12 last year.. fast, clinical ball movement is the key to offence.

Massive game from Danger, Brodie Smith was (as per usual) awesome, Mackay ran and carried well, Douglas was immense in the first half and even Thompson was moving the ball quickly. Tex also played an exceptional game as the high half forward.

It'd be a poignant reminder of how good we used to be...

Mackay will be attracting interest as a rfa

Not sure about that, he's not particularly good, but he played his role really well.

He also turned down, no word of a lie, 500k from Melbourne before 2012. Not sure money is a factor for him.

You and I had a little disagreement six weeks ago about whether Dangerfield could be mentioned in the same breath as Watson.. I said possibly maybe there could be an argument for it.. you said not a chance in hell...

Any chance you want to reassess? Not saying I would give up Watson for the world.. or that Dangerfield is better.. but he is getting to Elite status pretty quickly.. very rarely losses a 1-1 and has improved his consistency during games and overall as well.. now almost the complete inside/outside midfielder..

Wait til Danger has 15 possessions next week.

Totally missing the point Ethan. Dangerfield is not a top 10 player in the comp purely because he doesn't do it every week like say Beams or Johnson or Griffen (pre-injury) do. His best is as good as anyone's, but there's too big a gap between best and worst, and the gap is visible too often.

Just assumed he was copping Crowley next week :p
