Who?

Apparently in the fine print there are clauses to stop them doing that.. they are allowed to honour EXISTING contracts only up to 2017, but all contracts made from now must ensure they can be under the cap in 2018..

So I think we will see some heavily front loaded long term contracts... which is hard because they already have a pretty full quota of money grabbing freaks..

If I was an opp club.. my main target would be Parker.. he is going to be A+ grade midfielder/small forward for the next 10+ years..

I hope we're front and centre in the rape and pillage that's sure to come.

Although Sam Reid, the biggest argument against COLA (how the **** do they have cap room to pay him 550k), will probably go, and fix everything (including their structural imbalance).

Doesn't make a dent on their sudden kent imbalance however.

Sydney's model isn't exactly a secret though, dish out fat contracts to best 22 players and continue to delist veterans and 2nd contract types.

LRT and ROK will be gently shoved into retirement, Perhaps Goodes as well. they'll be fine cap wise unfortunately

If he stayed fit, LRT would be a good 2 year player for us. Still only 30 (sure, 31 at years end), but just plonk him at CHF and watch him tach our forwards about workrate

Eh, if we're going to go down that path Ryan O'Keefe is probably a better go. Had like 39 touches, 13 tackles and a couple of goals in the reserves on the weekend?

We've already got sufficient tall stocks, we don't really need more

Disagree with the second comment. We're desperate for someone to take the pressure off Daniher. Whether that's LRT or not is another matter, but we need someone.

Our tall defensive stocks are elite. Our tall forward stocks are average.

Big body, generally leads to the right spots, good mark. He's easily attainable.

Sydney will be ok cap wise.. as stated, they drop Reid, LRT, ROK and Goodes.. and they will be fine.. having already dumped Grundy, Mummy et al this year.

The biggest concern Sydney has is not a career ending injury to Franklin.. that would result in a pay-out.. the concern is him falling off the cliff form wise.. and being stuck with his salary for 5 years..

Sydney made the contract banking on the TPP rising every year and quite significantly.. which is predicated on the game getting stronger and the TV rights being worth more and more..

The dangerous aspect is that footy is down about 10% right now.. meaning the TV deal *could* stagnate or even regress a little.. particularly if 10 aren't in a position to put some competition up. Nine won't want to compete with FOX, as FOX is likely to want to create an EPL like stranglehold where they basically have all games bar a 'spotlight' game each week.

So if attendences drop, TV rating drop and TV rights deal remains the same.. then presumably the TPP will stay the same..

This will create a huge problem for the Swans who have heavily back loaded Franklin and may have 1-1.5% of their cap allocated to a player who is unable to play.

We do. He is called Bellchambers and he just rejoined the side.

Won't be at all surprised if Daniher gets some rests later in the year now we can actually do so without it leaving Carlisle one out as a forward.

I know he's out of form, but he is still playing. ;)

I was sort of thinking along the lines of an actual permanent forward, not a ruckman. Not a knock on TBC, but I don't think he'll be taking the number one defender off Joe any time soon, whereas someone like Waite would, or would punish the second defender.

Didn't he go to the pies.. or am I very confused?

Very confused.

Heath Grundy is the suddenly mediocre full back. Brodie Grundy is the overhyped second year ruckman.

Article in the Hun today about the outrage of him not yet getting a Rising Star nomination. Almost on cue.

My bad sorry.. was just trying to recall the 2 players Sydney got rid of to fit in franklin..

apologies all round.

Jed Lamb was one of the depth players they lost.

You're forgiven. ;)

Jed Lamb was another who left because of the squeeze, more or less.

EDIT: damn it Ben.

Heath was pretty good before this year, dunno what happened. He should be in his prime right now
