The footy show has improved heaps since the Eddie-Vamp but Dave Hughes is ******* terrible. He looked like a drunk who was pulled from the gutter and he is not funny at all. He is like a poorer version if trev marmalade which is an extremely low bar

Looks like Andy Lee was applying for his job too. I think there'll be a few more changes by the start of next year when they can do fresh contracts.

Lol. You mean the guy who went up there and turned the dressing rooms into a segregation between the devout and the infidels??

Yeah I bet that helped their culture out

The problems with the place were inherent arguably prior to his signing, and have been exacerbated by other people. He has contributed to what's wrong, but even if he was a supremely skilled leader the club would be in roughly the same shape. At this point, not wanting to be a part of an abortive non-entity is fair enough. The failure is at a higher level than Ablett's, and blaming someone who exhibited no capacity for leadership prior for failing to be a leader is wrongheaded. Blame the people who humoured and accepted the idea, which probably came purely from Ablett himself.

Interesting that they're giving Fyfe a big bake on Fox Footy for leaving Dustin Martin on his own forward of the ball. It ends with a Martin goal but it starts with a ball in dispute on centre wing, so if the ball comes out the other way it probably results in a Fyfe goal or assist.

They're basically celebrating Martin cheating out the back while crapping on Fyfe for cheating out the back.

I disagree - You needed to watch the whole game and see Fyfe's action in that context - It was shocking form by Fyfe who did not move one inch - And it was hardly lightning ball movement by Richmond which could give Fyfe a sort of out.

The captain of any club has a big role in setting the standard and culture of a club, and if the culture of the place was/is rubbish then Ablett has to cop some of the blame for that.

It is hard to say for certain one way or another from the outside but enough questions have been raised about Ablett's leadership over the years that I suspect his selection did create some problems up there. You can understand the appeal of having one of the greatest ever players lead your young group but in hindsight they would have been much better having a less skilled player but a better leader. Of course Ablett is just one ****up among many, the choice of an untested senior coach, the establishment of a dud medical department and so on. Look at everything they did differently at GWS, that should tell you what at least one person in AFL HQ thought they got wrong at GCS.

Just realised that if Port win and richmond somehow lose to StKilda there will be a Showdown qualifying final. That would be huge.
Showdown qualifying and Clash of the Sash elimination.

Gil would be licking his lips, keep watch for any suspect umpiring.

Richmond should win, but Saints getting up isn't that far beyond the realms of possibility. They did beat them by 10 goals earlier this season.

I'm not sure that Ablett has the right to want out. He signed what would invariably have been a heavily front-ended contract. If he wants out he can pay back half of his contract.

I have no sympathy for players who sign these deals and then become bound by them. If you're unsure about wanting to stay don't sign long term deals.

Geelong must be having some reservations about Ablett, he is a ****wit of the highest order.

So for us this weekend who do we want to win? I am assuming the bolded below but let me know if I am wrong.

Hawks V Dogs
Pies V Demons
Lions V North - Doesn't matter
Swans V Blues - Doesn't matter
Cats V Giants - Doesn't matter
Power V Suns - If we want to play Power week 1 we want them to lose.
Tigers V Saints
Eagles V Adelaide

If Dogs, Saints and Eagles all lose we still make finals even if we lose or have a small win.

Well if Collingwood beat Melbourne we're more likely to play Sydney so I disagree with those tips, as there's no way Port lose to the Suns

Geelong would be nuts to bring him in just from an injury risk standpoint let alone all this religious nonsense & from what I've heard from Chris Scott on the subject, he won't be there.

West Coast aren't exactly world beaters, yo.

They do pretty well against Adelaide though, especially at home.
