Very unpredictable season, but I think winner of Pies and Dees wins the flag.
But I also think we potentially see a Pies V Dees GF.

If Brisbane win the QF and get a home PF I think we could see them bottle the PF. Especially if its against a pressure team like the Pies. But I think if Port beat Brisbane and get a home PF we will see Port win that and make the GF.

Brisbane's home finals record is nothing to write home about, though.

Straight sets in 2019 (both at home), in 2020 lost the home PF against us, lost a home SF against the dogs in 2021, and last year barely scraped home against an ordinary Tigers (they actually performed much better the following week against the Dees).

So it might be an advantage, but I don't give any team playing at the Gabba zero chance with a record like that.

Thats what I mean, the Gabba hasn't been the Gabbatoir this year except early in the year when they spanked a hot Pies.

Beat the Saints by 12 who were missing King, beat the Croms by 6, beat us by 11 and beat the Eagles by 81 in their last 4 at the Gabba. Hardly inspiring form.
And while they are getting a Port team on a 3 game winning streak, its still a Port team missing some important players. Its why I think we could see Brisbane beat Port then lose to Pies/Demons/Carlton/Sydney in the PF.

As for who I want to see win the flag? Would be happy if Sydney won it without Franklin to offset the spanking we gave them last year.

Anyone but Collingwood and Carlton, most insufferable fanbases in the league.

A little odd to take players like 10 years younger than Grundy to meet with him IMO. Ok Rozee and Butters would be the selling point to go to Port to try and jag a flag but surely Boak, even if he is going to retire this year, would relate to Grundy on his level a lot better particularly when the moving to Adelaide part is where Grundy needs the most convincing. I don't think reviews of Hindley Street nightclubs from 20 years olds is going to clinch it for Brodie.

I think brissy might win their finals at home this time. They haven’t been as dominating at the Gabba but they keep winning.
Nonetheless, if you are right, I’d be more than happy with a pies/dees grand final. That hasn’t happened for a long time!

My question is, how is Tarryn Thomas still on North's list?

My wish list
Devon Robertson
Fin Mcrae
Bailey Smith
Xavier Durrsma
Will Brodie
Liam Henry

One of these to add midfield depth would be good all have either ball winning ability or X factor - reason for Xavier Durrsma would be to get his brother as well.

Harry Taylor playing in grand final atm with Josh Kennedy at full forward.

Stewart was the most "pressing" of the two, I suppose.

Blicavs to the defence is interesting but losing him from the midfield makes it a no go.

If needed, you can move him from the midfield to somewhere else for structural or strategic reasons, and it's easy enough to replace him with someone who's "good enough". There are plenty of players who can go through the middle. Not so in defence.

As for the Cameron trade - we would get (significantly?) less than we paid for him only a few seasons ago for effectively a lottery ticket.

The players we get at 6 and 18~ are not likely to be better than Cameron is (in the time he has left with us) over the course of their careers in the position he plays and certain won't offer a better return in the next two or three years. There's no way we'd get a high roaming key forward at Pick 6~ anyway.

What Strange Cat says is right, too. What Geelong proves is that it's not just talent that gets you there, it's culture.

Geelong, of the last decade and a half are never not challenging. Save for a few close losses (5~) of less than 2 goals they'd have been a chance for top 4. In a fairly weak/even competition who's to say what happens from there?

They weren't "supposed" to win last year (or 2011). They could have won in 2020 save for some extraordinary efforts from a Richmond player or two. Could have snagged a few flags in other years too.

None of those possibilities occur if we trade out experience for youth.
I am very pleased to have chatted with you and have appreciated and learned from your replies. Time will tell on the decisions made this year.

I have appreciated that you have replied with consideration of my ideas, put fwd insightful alternatives and delivered it all with a kind manor. 👍

You've been respectful until this post, but now unfortunately you've derailed things a bit by getting into a back and forth, and it's escalating.

Suggest it's probably time you take your leave now, as we've been pretty accommodating up until this point.
.
You were doing so well too a shame you went a bridge too far.

Time to jog on now.

Talking projection of self onto others - give it a spell.

You proposed a highly unlikely yet hypothetical trade sitation and created some interesting hypothetical discussion and then you decided to die on that hill rather than accept some push back ( and you were gonna get push back saying trade Cameron and Stewart ffs lets be honest 0 and then time stamping it with "do it now or die" as your list has nothing else of value

So thanks for the input and off you go.

Dont push it.

GO Catters

Right you both are…

Cheers for the chat.
