I'm actually kind of annoyed about this if it's true. He's so competitive that his bitterness at falling down the ladder would have blanketed that club in toxic clouds of negativity. Now we won't get to watch that play out.
Feels a bit like Bomber Thompson leaving Geelong. Great coach and legend of the club but clearly some things weren't right in their private lives. I reckon this gives the Tigers a chance with new leadership before Hardwick holds on too long.

What would Hopper and Taranto be thinking though? Just started their 7 year deals.

If it's 'burn out' your first question would be rendered obsolete .....

The thing that is burnt out is the list. If they were still kicking in heads.. I doubt he would be feeling burnt out

Port or the Suns ...would be good alignments imo. Old Port premiership player .... Suns need their version of Mick Malthouse to get rid of them being a joke.

Not ideal but surely Xavier has to know there’s only one man on the mark.
No. If I am on the mark and hear someone elses name with "back 2 meters" I am assuming its the umpire warning a teammate. Not me.

But this is what happens when you have umpires trying to be mates and using names etc.

Why not just say "player on the mark back 2 meters" and take away any possible mistake occurring.

Interesting if true.

Scoop for next week - Hardwick to do a Ross Lyon's...

Carlton will lose to Sydney on Friday night, and there'll be a press conference Monday morning advising that Voss & Carlton have decided to part ways effectively immediately

Come Thursday nights team release, Carlton will slip in the news that Hardwick has agreed to terms & signed on for 4-years as their new senior coach...

Just for added laughs, Voss joins Richmond as an assistant coach

Been suggested that it's burn out, hence my comment.

It's a tough gig in a pressure cooker at the best of times, and he added a whole other layer with his actions in a personal matter......which had a profound effect on the playing group.

His taste for it all could've soured.

Conveniently timed for a point where Port, a club that almost exclusively hires former players as head coach, may have their coach walk away also

Did you actually watch Saturday nights game ???

I thought Richmond played pretty well - they had Ess under control and at arms length - the entire 2nd half - every time the Dons challenged - the Tigers had the answers

They got a bad/awkward bounce of the ball at CHB late in the game - where they had multiple defenders covering it - they were over a goal in front at that stage - that enabled Ess to have a flukers hope to pinch the game right at the death - for a most unlikely win

I dont think he would be unhappy how they played Sat night - he wouldnt be unhappy with his players - not at all - in my opinion it was a miracle how Ess ended up winning that game

I’d prefer they didn’t use names, particularly in this situation. I also have no sympathy for players cribbing the mark especially where it’s a coached tactic. It was a Clarkson tactic, adopted by Hardwick with great success and goes unpunished constantly. Maybe some more 50s will start to rein it in.
