Geelong already looking to trade this year’s first round pick for a second first round pick next year, so they’ll have two first round picks to trade for Bailey Smith.
If they can downgrade their first a bit, I would happily give them our first next year for it.

Have they got that many list spots available to take all those picks to the draft?
They're not done yet. Wait until the end of the trade period - in fact they can still trade picks up until close to the draft and list lodgement made to decide how many picks they can carry into next year.

Another way is to stash picks into next year, which can be traded back into the current year on draft night to help point matching. We did this last year by getting future 3rd picks, and one of them was traded back into the current draft to help match the Fletcher bid.

Suns lose 204 points this year. But get Dogs future first next year.
Suns must think they have enough points to get their academy players this year. After this swap they have 3886 points

Dogs now with 4, 38, 46, 51, 67, 70, 73 or 3206 points
They obviously want someone in that top group.
Man they will be death riding the Dogs hard. Hopefully they crash and burn hard and the Suns get a great pick next year as well

The way their list is built, they're an injury to a 33yo Liam Jones +/- a key midfielder away from the house of cards potentially collapsing.

if their back end of 2023 is anything to go by gold coast are probably looking at a top 6 pick with that future first

West Coast supporters not particularly happy with all the PP’s and compensation picks pushing their beginning of second round pick back.

Then factor in potential father son and academy bids in the first round, first pick of round two potentially is pick 29.

29!? Fair dinkum? So we're talking 10 "other" picks for things like father sons/academy/free agency in amongst the first 18 normal picks?

End of first round PP to North.

Adelaide end of first round compensation pick.

North pick 3 compensation pick.

St Kilda will get a compensation pick for Gresham, either band 1 (pick 13) or band 2 (pick 20).

So that’s 4 picks pushing WC pick 19 back.

Then there are the 3 GC academy kids that will receive first round bids.

WB have Croft who likely is bid on late first round.

Hawthorn have McCabe who likely is bid on late first round.

Now there is talk GC’s fourth academy kid might be bid on late first round.

Hardly a "draft" any more is it. We're gradually moving back to the good old days of zoning.

I don't mind as long as the rules stay the same for the next couple of years at least 😂

Most of the picks are unzoned though - only GC's are. Father/sons are the same old, and four other picks just appeared from thin air.

I hope they do death rides and operations better than we do!

Man the Bulldogs have got pumped with this one. 10, 17 and next years first for 1 pick of note at pick 4 😮

This is as much about the market price for the top echelon picks as it is the Bulldogs “overpaying”. But that trade is already more expensive then we paid for both Dunkley and Ashcroft combined last year, with a very real possibility of looking even worse at the conclusion of next season.

Reflecting on last year, that was one great offseason for us.

Some secret herbs and spices at work again with the free agency compensation formula that says Ben McKay is worth pick 3. A pick 21 in 2015 national draft, played 71 games. Career averages - 4 kicks, 5.4 handballs, 3.5 marks and 1.6 tackles per game. 0 Brownlow votes. Age, contract value/length and the North's ladder position seemingly more important than playing ability.

It's a joke, but nothing surprises me anymore.

Peter Bell bereft of feathers at this point.

He’s still doing the whole “he’s a contracted player and might still be a Fremantle player” thing. I wonder if even Fremantle fans must be getting a bit skeptical of the same bluster every year.

Crazy Horse going all in.

I think they've done pretty well and haven't compromised their development position much, if at all.

Two seasoned bodies around the ball, ruckman whose best is very good in to replace Hickey, mature defender in to replace McCartin and they've still got a first round this year and two next year.

Suns putting together some significant trade capital in next years draft.

Wonder who they’ll be after.

Sam Flanders and all the future picks to Geelong for cap relief, no doubt.

Tom Green goes bang 😂💪👏

And no doubt will be censured for calling a spade a spade 🤦
