Marcus Herbert #2 New
A second look at MSD fancy Marcus Herbert, this time playing more in his traditional rebounding half back role. Finding heaps of the footy as he always seems to, his attack and ability to disrupt in the air was impressive for a guy his size. Herbert is rumoured to be of interest to Richmond at pick 2, but if not there seems likely to be scooped up by one of a number of teams that have expressed interest.

Caleb May #1 New
Caleb May has emerged as a potential mid season draft option for clubs looking for a ruck. May is a big lad, standing 208cm with a powerful frame and long reach. His post tap work is still developing, but he competes super strongly in ruck contests, outreaches most opponents and has soft hands to drop the ball in the lap of his midfielders.

Tom Scully #1 New
Another from West Adelaide who's back on the radar of AFL teams after spending a couple of years at Port, Tom Scully is a super sized tall forward at 203cm who draws the footy well and can out stretch most defenders. He's got a decent goal scoring record at SANFL level and is young and talented enough that AFL teams might back themselves to develop him into that hybrid ruck/forward that's so valuable in the modern game.

Harrison Coe #1 New
Vision of the minty fresh MSD pickup for Collingwood Harrison Coe showing his stuff for Frankston in the VFL. Up against Kuol Mun he struggled to have an impact with his tap work, but showed a lot of Darcy Cameron like traits clunking marks down the line all game and looked solid when moved forward in the last quarter, slotting a couple of goals.

Flynn Riley #1 New
The Blues used the MSD to elevate one of their VFL contingent onto their AFL list. Flynn Riley is a huge ruck with a powerful frame. He showed how dominant he can be with 40 hit outs in this game, as well as a solid follow up game at ground level and around the ground.

Max Beattie #1 New
A look at new Hawks recruit Max Beattie who put his name in recruiters' minds immediately to start the season with a dominant five goal performance in round 1 of the SANFL. Beattie played high half forward and midfield, working extremely hard to make contests and find space, finding heaps of the footy and executing with class. Five goals from a guy who spends as much time outside forward 50 as Beattie does is a pretty special effort.

Oliver Francou #1 New
One for Eagles fans to check out with their new recruit Oliver Francou putting together a strong showing in his final game for North Adelaide. Francou has been super consistent this year in the SANFL, a hard working and tough tackling inside midfielder who's capable of finding plenty of the footy.

Cody Walker #9 New
Walker's fourth VFL appearance for Carlton was a quieter affair. He started strongly with his typical power inside the contest and pace on the outside, impressive in traffic and again showing some variable delivery by foot. As the game progressed, he faded out of things and didn't touch the ball in the last quarter, spending a good amount of it on the bench.

Ethan Herbert #3 New
Herbert was comfortably BOG for SA in their Champs warm up trial against NSW. While not having complete dominance in the hit out dual Herbert showed his strength and competitiveness to give his mids first use on a number of occasions, while following up strongly at ground level himself as he typically does. It was his contested marking around the ground that really stood out, using bodywork early to create an advantage on his opponent and clunking them with clean hands.

Tevita Rodan #1 New
Tevita Rodan is a 2027 prospect tied to Port via father-son and Essendon via their NGA program. Rodan stepped up this weekend showing some of his significant talent, playing off half back, finding heaps of the footy and providing significant run and drive for the Cannons. While some elements of his game are still quite raw his movement is his real point of difference, light on his feet, able to sidestep tacklers and possessing a burst of speed. He executed a lovely step back balk in this game that you rarely see at this level.

Baxter Sruk #2 New
2027 prospect Baxter Sruk is still rounding into form after a long injury layoff and isn't quite there yet as we could see in this game. His kicking was a little wayward and he was caught with the ball on a number of occasions, but in spite of that his incredible talent still shines through. He was involved in everything, attacking the contest with power, toughness and repeat efforts, and as is typical for Baxter he hit the scoreboard with a couple of nice finishes.

Darcy Szerszyn #1 New
Darcy Szerszyn entered this season as a highly regarded and versatile defensive stopper but has missed the first half of the year through injury. He played his first game of the season on the weekend, and while he clearly has a lot of rust to knock off, he showed the athleticism, aerial impact and competitiveness that could see him push up into first round contention if he can get a solid run at it.

Mitch Harris #2 New
Harris was again effective in the second warm up game for SA although significantly less influential than in game 1. For most of the first half Harris’ opponent stuck to the goal square, seemingly a strategy to keep Harris out of the play and reduce his influence and marking dominance inside D50. In the second half Harris started to get more proactive, impacting aerially and disrupting NSW’s attacking forays. Harris will be one to keep an eye when the champs kick off in a couple of weeks, a strong carnival could see him push up inside the top 20.

Jackson Watkins #2 New
Watkins returned to Talent League play after an extended break and picked right up where he left off with an impressive performance against Bendigo. Watkins has pace and power, is clean at ground level and regularly hits the scoreboard, his two breakaway running goals a real highlight in this game. Watkins has missed out on the initial Vic Metro champs squad, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can string together a sequence of strong form to earn a late call up.

Cody Templeton #3 New
Cody Templeton continues to produce solid performances for the Power without ever really tearing a game apart. In this game he demonstrated the traits that have won him many admirers, a combination of toughness and bravery with moments of class. He cracked in hard to win contested ground ball, presented strongly on the lead and finished off with three majors.

Do you view Harris as a legitimate KPD? Do you know his height?

Cooper Dudfield #1 New
Cooper Dudfield has surged into the goal kicking lead in the Colts competition on the back of a big bag of 7 on the weekend. You might expect a guy kicking 7 goals to be camped in the goal square, and while he did find a lot of footy deep, he also showed his ability to get up the ground with running patterns outside 50 and ball use to set up his teammates. He was strong in the air and opportunistic at ground level in a well rounded and impressive performance.

Is he draftable as a project rookie?

Hi everyone, I'm not a big self promoter as most know, but I've created a Patreon account that I'm hoping I can grow to help make this thing a little more sustainable. I don't know much about Patreon, so I'll be learning as I go.

Copy/pasting my first post over there which hopefully gives people an idea of what to expect:

Hello everybody and welcome to my Patreon.

I've been producing video of AFL draft prospects for several years now and many of you have been there on the journey from the beginning when I linked my very first Harley Reid video on BigFooty. I quickly discovered that there's a small but extremely dedicated and enthusiastic community of draft watchers out there for whom my videos fill a demand that perhaps they themselves didn't know they had.

My videos are typically approx. 5 mins long, piecing together every interaction a player has with the play in game (good, bad or indifferent) to give the watcher as full a sense for how they played on the day as possible without being at the ground in person. Functioning something like a scouting video, this helps watchers build up an understanding of how a draft prospect plays, and over time build a picture of the draft pool as a whole. Not everybody has the capacity or desire to trawl through 100s of hours of raw junior competition game footage over the course of a season, but hopefully my videos allow almost everyone to become either an expert, or at least a bit more informed.

The draft enthusiast community is dedicated and growing, but still relatively small, which limits the amount of revenue my YouTube channel can generate. There have been many very generous people who have donated via buymeacoffee which I'm always incredibly grateful for. My dream is to one day be able to do this full time, and if I'm completely honest, I already put in a lot more than 40 hours a week, but I do have a second job which keeps the lights on and food on the table. My hope is that there are people out there who find my work valuable enough that they'll be willing to sign up here and support what I do financially.

I'm committed to not putting any of my typical player game footage videos behind a paywall. I think that would be extremely unfair to the many people struggling with cost of living these days and unable to sign up. Instead I'll be adding other types of videos here as subscriber exclusives, such as my compilation highlights videos (champs highlights and end of season highlights) as well as some deeper analysis of my thoughts on the pool, state of the draft videos and the like. I'll also dedicate Fridays on my YouTube channel to Patreon subscriber requests, allowing the people who sign up here to directly determine the channel content for one day each week. There may be other Patreon exclusives I come up with as we progress here, and I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you all for the support and love you've shown me and my work over the years, the internet isn't known for being overly kind and positive towards content creators but I've always found my viewers to be incredibly generous and positive people.

Thank you for considering signing up and helping to make my channel and work sustainable.

Regards,
Dave/Noobermensch
