Following on from a pretty drab thread in the main BF board

1999 draft - with our salary cap problems, we were kicked out of the first two rounds of the draft

We still managed to garner Hille (150 gamer, top 5 rucks in the league) at #40, John Barnes (an integral player in 2000) who gave us a few very good years, and Rioli (a 95 game player and freakish talent) in the rookies.

That's actually brilliant.

1999 was a win in the drafting stakes given the material the recruiters were allowed to work with

You guys are so easily sucked in as are others on the MB.

The MB has certain posters with an agenda.

It is the same thing with them over and over and the same posters reply to them over and over.

The thread you are referring to has 2 posters that do not want to argue with you about certain things, what they want to argue is their teams list vs ours.

They are playing finals with a young list, thus can't lose the argument.

No matter what the topic is concerning Essendon, their goal is to turn it into a list vs list argument and bring their team into a thread that has nothing to do with them.

It is amazing how easily the same guys are played for suckers over and over again, not just from our members either, as these posters lay the bait and the same fish take it each time.

When you start legitimately winning an argument, they change the topic or leave.

If you ignore them, or make sure you keep strictly to the topic, the thread will die.

No doubt they are trolling, but as you can probably gather, I am an argumentative bastard, and will take any challenge about Essendon.

FWIW, when we make finals and they don't, I get the feeling a few of these threads will be bumped.:)

They are not actually trolling.

The thread in topic is a legitimate thread but they know by starting a thread about Essendon, the usual suspects will fall for it and as they drop the bait, they will turn the thread around to a topic that concerns their club then they go about discussing a topic it's hard for them to lose.

Sitting back and watching it from afar (Not getting caught up in the argument, thus having a clear head) it's quite laughable and completely predictable.

A lot of you guys have been here long enough to know which posters have which agendas so you really should be able to either let it go which means the thread will die or keep the topic on your terms, not theirs.

I'd consider baiting a form of trolling.

I usually try to stand clear of those type of threads though as like Merv said it's the usual suspects that are creating the threads.

I'd define trolling as posting to get a response from someone.

It's a very clever troll, and that's why it should rightly stay on the main board, but it's a troll nonetheless.

Merv, of course you're right, this thread is not about that hence I separated it. I suppose the only thing worse than a 15 year old Collingwood troll starting threads is people who should know better taking the bait.

Didn't Rioli notch up 100 games and hence qualify for the F/S rule?

Rioli (a 95 game player and freakish talent) in the rookies.

In fact I thought he played 100 (EDIT: 100 It was!)
The stats record that, yes

In reality, he was injured earlier in the season, and played 10 minutes in 2 or 3 games late in the season to take him across the mark.
