The Pies are a legitimate threat to the Cats.

We are the reigning wooden spooner.

Impressed (again) with Will Thursfield and Kelvin Moore who were excellent down back while Jay I think can only get better. Good signs for the future esp. with McGuane named in Coburg's bests 2day.

* Foley & King :thumbsu:

Disappointments:

* Deplorable system/structure going forward. Questionable coaching

* Deledio - Looks like he wouldn't couldn't move out of 2nd gear (Is he injured?)

* Pettifer - confidence player - Has none ATM!

* Simmonds - ordinary game (ordinary season so far)

* Johnson - gets it but seldom hurts the opp.

Just treading water - Youse got to know your limitations sometimes and we got plenty.

What he said.

There are real reasons to be very concerned

Why's that?

Put a class 3 horse in an open company race and see how it travels!!!

The Pies brought out their 'A' game - No question about that.

Even if we played to our best we wouldn't have got close.

the pes were seriously switched on today, would of beaten most sides
dissapointing deledio,tambling,bowden,simmo,tivendale,johnston
there was no foward structure whatsoever the team looks better with hughes in the team. i think we have to persavere with the hughes chf

hff. morton hughes pettiffer
f. brown reiwoldt richo

Tivendale should never play for us again.

Probably should drop Deledio and Polak.

Agree on Tivendale.

He's the sort of soft outside receiver we can't afford to play

Deledio was ok... there were far worse. Same with Polak - ok when put
forward. You'd have to say the Coaching staff blundered trying
to make him a defender.

White doesn't look up to AFL standard - tries hard - just doesn't have it.

Jackson was very ordinary and continually stuffed up.

Bowden had a shocker..... again.

please mate wake up to urself, we had every chance of winning today but due to the usual stupid decision making and poor skill that this football club has and always will have was the reason we lost today and will lose many more games...

That a little lame pal, we could at least demonstrate some sign of improvement...In fact I could even build a case we are worse than last year given the strength of our list and options compared to same time last year...Despite all that the gulf between us and the rest seems to be getting wider...If that doesnt concern you I dunno what does:eek:

Couldn't agree more, needs to be put back in his quarter back role and left there until retirement. And his old bad habit of taking forever to kick the ball in has crept in again.

Can't make a silk purse out a sow's ear champ. ;)

Can't make a silk purse out a sow's ear champ. ;)

so the youngsters that are supposed to develop yet dont seemingly add anything to the competiveness of this side dont concern you as a tiger supporter?. I can only assume you must have expected we would perform even worse than what we have:eek:

I think we show signs of improvement, but until we fix our forward entry problems we are going nowhere. We can win the hard ball, we can rebound off half back pretty well, our defence is not too bad but we cannot figure out how to transfer the ball to our 50 effectively and quickly. Then we turn it over, opposition switches play and kills us by swiftly moving the ball to their forward 50.

The Pies played fantastically well in the first half, we did not (not an excuse) and their discipline in the end was too much for us. They killed us on the rebound.

Don't think a lynching for the coaching staff is in order....just yet;)

Somthing to ponder over the next few hours/days:

Average Age: Richmond 25years 1 month Pies 24 years 11 months
Average Games: Richmond 96 Pies 102.
Players with less than 50 games: Tigers 7 Pies 7, 51-100 games: 6-5, 101-150 games: 3-3, 150+ games: 6-7.

In effect we were smacked by a team that is younger but with a little more experience, nothing more damning than that.

That's the problem, I have woken up to the fact that our players, coaching and support staff, scouting, recruiting et al is vastly inferior to the majority of other clubs..

It's delusional souls like yourself who can't see the forest for the trees.

Sure we had every chance to win but not when a clearly superior (stronger bodied, more disciplined and superbly coached) opposition are switched on.

better coached, better game plan, better disciplined, smarter players, more hungry, confidence in each other, better skilled, fitter and they ran and ran and ran to make space, fill up the holes, block, shepherd, provide options, 2nd efforts .....

That's why we got smacked and will continue to do so unless they get the fundamentals right.

Ponder this - Collingwood were a kick away from a grand final last year and we won the spoon.
Right you are and the breakdown I have put up shows just how evenly matched we were to them in terms of playing personal out on the park today. We got belted by a side that was down the bottom of the ladder 2-3 years ago.

Sitting up behind the goals today I got a perfect view of the difference between a top 4 side and one that is heading for yet another bottom 4 finish. If you like I'll list a few of the main differences:

1. When coming out of defence the Pies players pushed hard to make an option for their teammate, our players casually jog towards the boundary line waving their arms around.

2. When there is a pack forming around the ball our players get sucked into the contest while the opposition have 1-2 hang out ready to recieve the easy ball. Some might call it being soft, but if you have 2-3 teammates already fighting for the ball, then I call it smart. See the clearance stats from todays game, we smashed them in the clearances and yet gone done by 7 goals.

3. When we do get a quick ball out of defence we constantly chose the wrong option and run back into trouble or we head out towards the boundary which is the longest way to goal.

4. We continually look for Richo when heading into the forward line, FFS the 15 other teams know that we will do this yet we never try something else.

5. The same old players get a free ride when they stuff up passages of play and yet when a young kid tries something to spark the side and makes a mistake they get crucified. The ones trying something should be the ones getting a free pass and those who keep stuffing up should be punished, but it never happens.

So unless we start working on fixing these problems we are going to go nowhere fast. In fact the most damning thing I heard today about our side came from the MMM commentators after the game when they said that Richmond have gone backwards. Now I ask you, are you seriously unconcerned about where Richmond is heading or are you just trying to avoid reality?

Biggest problem is our blokes don't want to work for it with the exception of Richo and maybe Foley. Not enough gut busting running, not enough second efforts, not enought intensity even after we were jumped in the first quarter, crap pressure, too much lazy football and next to no accountability.

It seems that some of (maybe most of) us supporters want it more than the blokes out there playing, and the blokes out there aren't busting a gut for anyone, not their teammates, not their coach, not their supporters. I'd rather be frustrated watching a team of 22 Richos than some of the front running, lazy football that gets dished up:thumbsd:

We've got lots to be concerned about. The two sides out there today were not overly different to the ones that met in rd 19 last year. We've gone 5 steps back, pies have gone five steps forward.

A very disappointing effort today. Disinterested players, always 2nd to the ball, atrocious disposal, poor 2nd efforts, loose opposition players constantly, indecisiveness all over the joint. Just abysmal. We've gone nowhere in 4 years.

Feel really deflated, every week seems to bring more questions than answers...
Deledio, Tambling, Simmonds,Brown, Polak etc are supposed to be the future of our team!!! While in recent years our backline has been our major problem I now see this as our strongest area for the future (thursty, King, Newman, Moore, Mcguane) but where to for the front half?

I'll become concerned when we play poorly when I consider the list/coaching staff to be competent and professional.

What we see is what we get sadly ..
So what you're saying is you're not overly concerned because the coaching staff/list are incompetent and unprofessional. FFS, if after 3.5 years of rebuilding they aren't showing some level of competence and professionalism then we have every reason to be concerned.

Didn't say I wasn't upset.

I'm unconcerned because ATM there's not much we can do with the list except wipe the slate clean and start again. (players and coaches)
