Had an excellent day today (sans Melbourne Cup result) with a wonderful drive east of Melbourne. There are so many good roads out there and such wonderful scenery that I'm tempted to move there :p

One road in particular surprised me by how narrow and windy it was, yet it had a 100km/h speed limit!

My route for today was: Healesville>Marysville>Lake Mountain Resort>Warburton>Mount Dandenong lookout. I do have photos and will post them soon.

sloths are gorgeous little fellas... i could watch them be fussy over what they want to eat for hours:

There are some movies that can be watched over and over, allrighty. I hope you've introduced your son to the delights of NG and PS.
I was browsing a local music/DVD store just before Christmas a few years ago and found the boxed set of Police Academy DVDs, which I bought for my teenage son. He thought they were marvellous and we ended up starting a family movie night on Sundays during the summer, just so we could watch them. It was great to watch the kids laughing at all the things we laughed at 20+ years ago.
I'm not sure if we have the PS DVDs but we definitely have the NG and the Flying High DVDs. So much to re-watch, so little time! :(

I think it would be all of the above. How can you not admire an animal who looks like that and so clearly just does not GAF??

Huge fan. Kids into Young Ones since son was about 4.

I got one of my kids into the Young Ones and Comedy Company. Another one loved all the British comedy. All of the kids are Monty Python fans.

It's good that we can have some family time together, howling at these old DVDs.

I dislike cruising around the carpark, looking for somewhere to park, so I tend to go in early to avoid the rush.
Also hate listening to the screaming kids around lunchtime/early afternoon, when they should be home in bed.

And sucks to Christmas shopping!!! I HATE! HATE! HATE! Shopping in December!!! Gotta get most of mine done by the end of Nov.

I dont really have Christmas shopping to do anymore- but yes I totally get that.
It is the same deal tho really with Christmas, get to the shops no later than 9am and you're fine. With parks, with crowds, etc.

Another tip for HP (or any other SC for that matter), keep in mind the streets/ residential areas, not necessarily in the SC. One year went to HP on Boxing Day for a movie, parked down the road in front of a house, no restrictions, and less than a 2 min walk up the road to HP.

That's a good tip- i.e. the local streets, Shell. My son lives near a big shopping centre near me, so I can park at his place when it's busy but have to be careful not to buy kgs and kgs of supplies :( I often get caught struggling across the road with litres of milk and other heavy stuff. It's come in handy for those quick visits or just to go and have coffee with my son.

At the shops that I used to go to for their BIG stores, all the employees have to park across the road at the high school in December. I reckon that's great- there's nothing worse than getting to the shops pretty early, only to find that the employees have hogged all the carparks within a km. :( Especially when it's raining and you have little kids. Times have changed, though, and the carparks all have those dumb "mothers with prams" signs. I call them "dumb" 'cos I'm jealous they didn't have them when I needed them. :( I had to take my kids out with me everywhere because hubby worked away and I had no choice. Mostly, though, I went in early, picked up things quickly, then got out before the crowds came and before the baby/toddler needed to be in bed. The most difficult time was when I had one child sleeping at 10 and 2, and a second child needing a 12 noon nap, plus school kids needing to be dropped off at 8.30 and picked up at 3....

Christmas shopping was hard when I had kids that were 2-4 years old and not at school. I would distract them and hide stuff under bags in my trolley, then ask the checkout lady if we could sneak it through without the child noticing. I'd be 'Oh, can you go and grab me one of those bags from that checkout?' or 'can you hold this and wait over there for a minute?' If the kids saw me buying presents, you could bet the intended recipient would find out as soon as they got home from school.

One of the sneakiest things I did was to point out a merry-go-round in the gift shop to the shop assistant, paying for it at the counter, then walking out while she wrapped it. I went back and picked it up after she'd finished. :) People enjoy being part of pulling the wool over kids' eyes, don't they?

I only watched the Young Ones but never saw any/much of Rik's other work apart from a few YouTube clips. Still on my 'to do' list ... will get around to it one day, I'm sure. He's one funny guy!
