also talks of pick 19 for Street if so hit the road pete

Er, no.

Bulldogs have offered pick 50 and in light of the fact this is Geelong's best (only) offer, they will take it.

The hold-up is due to Geelong trading other players such as Clarke and Mooney for draft picks.

AFL rules state that any club that gets a draft pick as part of a trade must use it. As Geelong have picks 7, 22 and 37, plus whatever they get for the other two, Geelong must either trade away picks or take 6 players in the draft. With Geelongs young list they may be reluctant to take so many kids.

Geelong have already lost Lord, White, Woolnough and add Clarke, Mooney and Street you have 6. Will Slade has been promoted which means 1 other player will need to be delisted (time for Brent Grgic to worry?).

Agree with Big Cat, we have all this youth. Why not go out and buy a player, we have the money in the cap. Thompson getting signed was a joke.

Richo-Should have been a target of ours. I don't care what he is on and what we would give up. We need a big name.
Yes! I've been a believer of this since the end of last season. Stop recruiting potentially good players from other clubs, let's make a statement and recruit a ready-made player, who is already a star.

So what if it's a hit and miss, or only a 2 to 3 season deal, if it works then it will keep the fans happy. If it works beyond expectations and we can get great success with it, then it's going to be the biggest moral and experience boost for the young players that got to play in that area at a young age. Right now, our young starts aren't getting any real exposure to finals and really successful football, which when the crunch comes will come back to haunt us.

Initially from Evertonfc. But I've since heard it on Sports Today (3AW).

As much as we all love Ev I can't remember him actually ever nailing one trade and trust me he has suggested a lot (not that there is anything wrong with that :) ) Most of what he posts are his personal opinions and while are usually pretty accurate they are hardly gospel.

As for the 3AW source I listened to Sports Today for almost the majority of the night and not once was pick 50 mentioned. Dwayne Russell said the deal was almost done involving Street and a draft pick. I got the impression it was the bulldogs 4th pick #34 overall.

Anyway we shouldnt have to wait long to find out. IMO if we did only get pick 50 then what's the point. May as well keep Street then going through all the pain of trying to get Loats or Grandpa Allan to first ruck for the VFL team.

:( Geelong gains yet another dud...

Richmond: Brown
Geelong: Ray Hall
W.B: Pick 6 and Street

Surely we could have gotten a better deal than that? IMO we should have gotten a draft pick for Street then use that to help secure our forward that we're searching for.

I wouldn't say that Ray Hall is a dud by any stretch. He is never going to be a superstar, but will be ample back up in the ruck and a handy KPP as a pinch-hitter. He played his best game in the 2001 Semi v. Carlton and provided a lot of run from the backline in a very scrappy, low quality game. He was one of the only players prepared to run with the ball. I think the cats will suit him.

And Ev said that because he has a thing against Peter Street.

He swore blind that we wouldn't get anything more than a 4th round pick, and was quite wrong.

Pick 19 for Street. Er, no.

Oh Scooter how wrong you were.

From AFL.com.au
The Bulldogs will trade selection 19 to Geelong in exchange for Street.

The Cats will then give that selection 19 to Richmond for Hall with the Tigers then trading the pick back to the Bulldogs – along with pick six – for Brown.

However both Bulldog and Tiger officials stressed the deal would still go through even if Hall decided to remain at Punt Road.

Under that scenario the Tigers would then give pick 20 – which they secured on Thursday off Melbourne in exchange for Ben Holland to the Bulldogs, who would then on-trade it to Geelong in return for the 208cm Street.

Now hopefully Ray finds all that travelling to much and declares he wants to stay at Tigerland so we end up with pick 19 or 20. Yummy :D :D . Not bad for a *******

I eagerly await Ev's eating of a king sized humble pie. I also believe he had a little wager with Phat. ;)

OK. Let me see.

Point 1. Peter Street is not very good.
Point 2. Peter Street is out of contract.
Point 3. Peter Street knows he won't get a go in front of King, Chambers and maybe even Blake. He agrees to come to the Bulldogs.
Point 4. No other club made Geelong an offer for Street.
Point 5. Bulldogs have pick 1 in the PSD.

AND THE *******S STILL ****ED IT UP!!!!!!

I believe that is incorrect.

At least one other offer.

Point 5. Bulldogs have pick 1 in the PSD.

Street stated that if a trade couldn't be organised, he wished to remain at Geelong.

Never was going to contemplate the PSD.

The pick would be nice.

Worst Case Scenario: Upgrade from a dud (Street) to a battler (Hall). We still win out.

That's exactly my thoughts. Although it sounds as if we have two definate options. Hopefully Thompson sleeps on it and rings the Tigers in the morning and says we'd rather have pick 19 or 20.

Pick 19 or 20. Gotta love that for Street. :D
