I think they said on white line fever that brayden shaw has been told he will be delisted at the end of the season??

is this so??

if so.. thoughts/comments?

Bye Bye Brayden

Told by the club he won't be retained next season, and the club will help him find a new team (hopefully for next year). I recall something similar happening with Rhyce a couple years back, but nobody else wanted him so we kept him. He also just signed a new 2 year deal.

Brayden I reckon is unlucky. Tough run with injuries. But, he's a former U18 Vic Metro captain. I've got an inkling that if we delist him, it's going to come back and bite us on the ass...

Good luck to the kid anyway.

Shaw-Cloke dynasty slipping...

Was there any doubt that it would go any other way?
With all the cr@p handed out to both Shaws and Clokes alike (probably a little too much, but semi-justifiable when looking at Rhyce and Jason's 2003 GF efforts) they would have to be supermen (all six of them) if they were ever going to recover and become steady constant contributors to the one Collingwood side. Much like the Wakelin's, who have thrived at separate clubs, perhaps the same needs to happen for the Shaws.

Gonski, kid must have a shocking attitude no matter how hard the club tries to sugar coat the situation. Its a grand scale muck up for both parties. Bray was a kid who was Vic Metro captain only two years ago with skills and the riight 'attitude' but something went wrong over the journey.I wonder how much father Tony's influence has effected the decision.

At least give the kid an opportunity first. There is plenty of players on this who have hundreds of chances. Like Rhyce, at least he would show some heart to the Collingwood tradition unlike alot of other names.

With a coach like Gotch, what young player wouldnt destruct, will be another in a long line of talent ruined.

When Malthouse took over he said he was going to make a new history. At what cost has this come to. I liked the old Collingwood better when the players respected the jumper they played for and would die for it. I think Malthouse and a few others have turned this club soft and I hate to think where we are going in the future.

It is sad when thats what our club has sunk to and become.

I agree, it is sad, but when you think that 15 clubs would have recruited one or two sons overall, and we took SIX in four years (and from just two "names" at that), we set ourselves up for the ridicule if/when it didn't come off and they didn't all become superstars. Of course we would never get six superstars out of them, because the odds are way too small. However, the rest of the footballing world sat and (im)patiently waitied to bag any Shaw or Cloke that took the field if they weren't instantly great.
To the player's own detriment the 2003 GF happened, which made it easier for everyone else to bag our decision to keep dipping into the Shaw/Cloke bag. It's quite unfortunate that Rhyce played a very good first half of 2005 before doing his knee, or that Trav actually played pretty well, or that Cam is developing slowly as a ruckman/forward. Anything to do with a Shaw or a Cloke will always be negatively slanted.
It's one thing to be Collingwood (so there's extra attention), but to be a part of the above, makes it double so.

One positive thing about Brayden being delisted is that it proves that the club looks at teh Clokes and Shaws as individuals, not as a group, and assesses their futures depending on their individual situations.

I dare say lokan, williams, walker, lonie, cole and B. shaw wont be with us next year, Collingwood know what to do now, otherwise all year they have been talking bull******** to us supporters. The last four i mentioned will be traded away. Cole and Shaw to the bombers. walker and lonie to freo for Polak.. well i wish.. and he is gonna be traded to a melbourne team at years end. Im not starting rumours, just think that we will trade those players to those teams as essendon need couple half backs middys with pace and well coles hardness. Coles legal guardian is still on the essendon board, remember her talking just after we picked him up, saying we stole him from under them... take him please.

He's a perfect player to become a great half-back-flanker for the Bombers.. watch him dominate ANZAC Day 2006 (against Collingwood!) :D

It could easily be the other way around.
Brayden has probably been warned by the club that he is treading on thin ice and they are seriously looking at giving him the flick. Tony might of knew about this so his attitude towards Collingwood in the media has been affected by this.

As for the decision I'm a little disapointed. More in Brayden than Collingwood. (If it is true) it is a tough decision that must be made. We can't afford to carry the likes of Brayden who is a bit of a project player. He had talent but probably hasn't stepped up to AFL level as much as you'd like. He doesn't shine in any one area and a bit of a vanilla player. The likes of Swan, Iacobucci, Davies, Rowe have passed him as midfield options. Brayden should be picked up at another club quite easily I would imagine. I won't complain if he has some sort of success at another club. It is alot like the Sav delisting, it was best for both parties. There is no way Sav would of lasted this long at Collingwood or worked hard enough to improve himself. Once he realised he had to work from the beginning again he went alright.

He wasnt supposed to be a project player, he was supposed to be a ready made ball magnet. He only became a project when his career derailed for some reason.

I would consider Ray's Shaws, Swan, Davies, Iacobucci all well ahead of Brayden in terms of midfielders, and all of those guys are definitely capable of playing an inside role, as well as all having significantly larger skill sets than Brayden.

Ray's boys are both very quick, and while nothing more needs to be said about Rhyce, Heath also looks quick, capable of getting it, and decently skilled. Both are faster and better skilled than Brayden.

Swan's skills and defensive abilities are both better than Brayden's, and he probably is at least average speed - faster than Brayden, that's for sure.

Davies is quicker, better overhead, more capable of playing a defensive role, and taller than Brayden.

Iacobucci is quicker, harder at it, especially on the defensive end, and better skilled than Brayden.

Brayden Shaw may go one to be a good player, but the fact of the matter is, in the 4th round of the draft, and in the rookie draft it looks like we've picked up two players better than him.

During last week Brayden shaw was delisted because he has so many injuries and he has too much stuff wrong with him.
Earlier in the year he did an ankle then he did a hip and jus recently he had the flu so i dont think he was every going to play a game for collingwood seniors

How has Richards, Davidson, Walker and Cam Cloke survived or are they being saved up for the next four Friday press conferences. :D
