Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

Brad Hogg has a knee injury and will miss 6 weeks, Cameron White has been brought into the squad for the Super Series games starting Wednesday.

Good luck to the kid, big ask first up.

Apparently they will announce the change at a press conference within the hour.

White In, Hogg Out

Cameron White has been called up to the Australian One Day side for the three one day matches played against the World XI to replace the injured Brad Hogg.

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie Team

geez, big loss.

Bring back warnie!

I reckon they should have asked him a while ago if he would just like to make a return to ODI just for these games like he did for the tsunami ones.

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie Team

Would love to have Warne back, but at the same time if his retirement from ODI cricket prolongs his test career even slightly i'm happy.

Was just anounced at the press conference then

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

lets see if the kid can match up with his reputation

his first class stats are ordinary but this could be a selection on 'potential' much as punter, clarke, lee and warne were.

punter and warne have lived up to the promise, clarke is still on the 'lets see' list and lee has been a failure.

I do hope White gets a run as long as lee's to see if he can live up to the call.

Most the time with potential selection, for the player to kick on like punter you need a good head on your shoulders and a smart cricketing brain ie warne. I think White will take that step as he is a good leader and smart cricketer.
let's hope anyway.

Ponting was ability not potential. He had nearly 2500 first class runs @ over 50, including 9 centuries, as a 20 yo.

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

Yeah he would be a good supersub option.

Personally I'm wrapped White's in, I think he's got so much to offer the one day side, with his fielding as well as his batting and bowling. I see him more as a batting
all-rounder than a like-for-like replacement of Hogg, but good to see him in anyway.

Would love to see a starting lineup like this:
Gilchrist
Hussey
Ponting
Martyn
Symonds
Clarke
Watson
White
Lee
Bracken
McGrath

Supersub - Hopes.

Thats the worst team I've ever seen.

Bracken is an A grade dud.

Hopes is super crap. Nothing else.

And Watson and White are both all rounders that suffer from not overly good at either syndrome. Both average batsman and average bowlers, in White's case a dud.

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

From the squad's announced and with White in for Hogg,(here) this is my side for the first match:

+Adam Gilchrist
Mike Hussey
*Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Andrew Symonds
Damien Martyn
Simon Katich
Shane Watson
Brett Lee
Shaun Tait
Glenn McGrath

Super Sub: Cameron White

but i'd like to see Brad Hodge in instead of Martyn and Phil Jacques called in for Katich, especially as he's just finished a good series in Paky

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

Marto should open the batting with gilchrist

alright if he's goin to b in the side, thats where he should bat, but if he bats elsewhere, he shouldn't b in the side IMO. He bats the Aussie into trouble to often with slow painful batting. but as i said, hodge and jacques IN, martyn and katich OUT.

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

You can't bring a supersub on and off as you like right? Just once?

If so why not use a player who only bats as your supersub? That way if you bowl first he can come on for a bowler at end of their 10 overs/innings and if you bat first he can come on for a batsman who has been dismissed.

im not certain, but i don't think u can replace a batsmen who has gone out with another batsmen, it would mean having 12 batsmen. but i suppose it would mean designating a bowler not to bat.

Why replace a spinner with a medium pacer?
Nah it's good, lets see him fail early in his career and never get back into the team.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, NO

The supersub rules works where the player who is subbed off and the player subbed on share 1 innings and 10 overs. You can sub someone off in mid innings, but once he goes out, his replacement cannot bat

White would make a good supersub, an extra bowler or batsman if required. Is obviously more of a batting all rounder, but can be a handy extra bowler

He will start in atleast 1 match though

Thats a pathetic attitude towards a young player who has just earned his dream to play for his country.
Obvious to see you have never acheived anything in your life

Re: Hogg Injured, Cameron White into Aussie ODI Team

Almost the ‘perfect’ Supersub.

Not really good enough yet to justify a full time position in the team but can both bat and bowl a bit. And his bowling is big variation to the starting side. Exactly the type of player for that role.

that team isnt possible Im afraid Shaun Tait ripped his shoulder out which isnt any wonder considering the way he bowls why didint someone try and fix that stupid action up its inaccurate and now hes injured

hes a batsmen and a medium pacer like harris from NZ who is a good one day player if he can be as good as him then that will be good
