Should have been 4-5 but a good win, we played some good stuff, didn't control possession, but pretty safe.

Vida's goal was a cracker, he won't hit the ball that nicely again.

Just not Berba's day, but it was Rooney's and if it wasn't going to be Dimitar scoring we all know who else needs to.

Lets hope this is the kickstart for Rooney for the run in. And I knew it was too good to be true when we were leading, Arsenal losing and Chelsea drawing....now those results would have been MINT!

I watched the game and thought we were pretty good. But now I've seen the statistics I've got to admit we were shithouse.

I don't watch games anymore, all I need to do is look at the stats and it is much easier to make an informed judgement on who was the better team from that. Not sure why anyone bothers to watch games really. Everyone could be an expert like me if they used my method.

So using my methods, Villa played like Brazil 1970 this morning and we played like Reynella East Primary U9s Blue 1986...so clearly Villa were ridiculously unlucky to lose....clearly.

good performance. no better time for a rooney run now with the games we have coming up. next 5lg games are wolves, city, wigan, chelsea, pool with city being the only home game not to mention the CL ties in there too.

Gary Neville has called it a day.

Good lad is Gary, always wore his heart on his sleeve, which was embarrassing at times but we were in never any doubt where his allegiances lie. His last few appearances in the shirt were pretty dreadful but it shouldn't be forgotten how consistently good and reliable he was for a long time. A crucial part of the best part of Manchester United's history, that's how I'll remember him. Well, that and winding up the scousers :p

Some talk of him going into the media, I'm not sure he'd be best served there. Although he clearly knows more than most ex-professionals, and he's had involvement from all sides being not just a player but also has done coaching badges and was very involved in the players' union, he's also far too partisan to be much use as an expert, bless his heart. Although if bloody Big Nose Thompson can do it...

Anyway thanks for everything Gary.

He has his critics does Gary but there is no denying that for the best part of a decade he was the best RB in England, unfortunately time caught up with him and he went a few seasons to long.

His passion and loyalty for his club as we have seen in recent times is rare and he will always be remembered as a vital cog in United's dominance.

Snippets from Neville and SAF on Retirement

"I have been a Manchester United fan all my life and fulfilled every dream I've ever had," Neville told the club's official website. "Obviously I am disappointed that my playing days are at an end, however it comes to us all, and it's knowing when that time is and for me that time is now.

"I have played in the most incredible football teams, playing with some of the best players in the world as well as against them and I have been lucky to have been part of the team's achievements and the club's great success.

"There are so many people I want to thank and, of course, top of that list is Sir Alex. He has given me so many opportunities and countless support over the last 20 years - he is truly one of the greatest managers - and I have to thank him for that."

"I am looking forward to new experiences and the club will always be a part of my life going forward. However, the most important thing now is for the club to continue with the success that is synonymous with Manchester United and I will be supporting them all the way, as a fan."

Ferguson said: "Gary was the best English right back of his generation. He is an example to any young professional; hard-working, loyal and intelligent. As a United fan born and bred, his fantastic career at Old Trafford has cemented his place in the affection of the club's supporters everywhere.

"His impact on the club in general has been huge; his presence in the dressing room and leadership qualities have been an asset to me as a manager. All the young players who have sought his advice on many matters, particularly on contract issues owe him a great debt.

"As a young boy he had the will and determination to succeed as a footballer and that character remained with him throughout his career. That's the legacy he leaves every young player at Manchester United."

Immediate retirement of at the end of the season?

No doubt a Manchester United legend but a good decision from him to retire. I certainly hopes he sticks around the club in some sort of coaching role.

congrats to gaz. always been a favourite of mine good on him on a brilliant career.

Neville Neville must be a very proud man.

Yep. Also the owner of a pretty awesome name. Reminds me of Wil Anderson's joke that Shannon Noll's dad's name was Noel Noll. I think it is actually Neil.

Cya Gary, always gave his heart and soul for the club. I was never a big fan but always appreciated him
