so many LOL's in this. The modern day triple threat, Meer for Thompson and garcia. Why don't we just trade dwight for RIP and Maxiell?

Just throwing it out there, why wouldn't we look at Thompson? His young and talented and a big guy, would be ideal as safety for Dwight. Remember Jameer is 28 dude, he's had 1 real good season but apart from that has been mediocre. Arenas when healthy is dynamic, to big for most 1 guards and can hurt you off the dribble or from 3 and today just showed how well he distributes

Fcuk me if we've got him on board as our 6th man he would be the

most expensive 6th man in the history of Basketball, 17mill salary for 20 mins every other night.

We have depth at the point position, now is
as good a time as ever to deal Nelson. Look at his career stats, nothing suggests to me he should be off limits. An average talented nearing 30yr old, Jameer has currency still let's deal him.

Career * 418g 12.2ppg 2.1to 4.8apg 3.0rpg

He is having a career year right now and has become a pass first pg. He is the captain of the team. Him leaving would see Dwight out the door next year.

Oh and gilbert hasn't done anything to suggest he is a better player for the past 3-4 years.

hi everyone

first of all merry christmas. hope santa stuffed your stocking this morning. i for one wished for a consistent, talent fulfilling laker team.

anyway, no games today....and there shouldnt be games tomorrow either

so let's turn our attention to some off court issues:

1. lebrone says!

Calling the league “watered down,” James told reporters before Thursday night’s game in Phoenix that the NBA was more popular in the 1980s because there were fewer teams and thus more stars on the top squads.

“James also said it would be better for the league if some of the good players on bad teams were able to play for more successful teams. It’s not my job; I’m a player, but that is why the league was so great,” James said. “Imagine if you could take Kevin Love off Minnesota and add him to another team and you shrink the. Looking at some of the teams that aren’t that great, you take Brook Lopez or you take Devin Harris off these teams that aren’t that good right now and you add him to a team that could be really good.

“I’m not saying let’s take New Jersey and let’s take Minnesota out of the league. But hey, you guys are not stupid, I’m not stupid, it would be great for the league.”

dont think he understands that its not always possible to take good players off bad teams like that. in theory yep its a good idea.....but this aint no computer game.

2. lebrone talks about ali

“I have (met him before), but it feels like the first time every time you meet him,” James said of his chat with Ali. “He’s by far one of the top two athletes in the world.”

i wonder who the other top athlete is....

3. other tidbits

The New Jersey Nets are hoping to sell Carmelo Anthony(notes) on their future by also acquiring point guard Andre Miller(notes), one of his former teammates.

The Nuggets would likely acquire forwards Derrick Favors(notes) and Troy Murphy(notes) and two first-round picks from the Nets in potential deal. Under one scenario, New Jersey would send point guard Devin Harris(notes) to the Blazers. The roadblock is that the Nuggets also covet the Blazers’ Nicolas Batum(notes), and Portland officials have shown no interest in trading their versatile young forward. Other players and draft picks could also be involved.

melo, miller, sasha, farmar, lopez. fair lineup!

imagine devin alongside no knees roy, interestin

Obviously Dwight would have to give the thumbs up but to me it just seems pointless bringing in Arenas to play 6th man, cmon his on 17ml, i'm positive Otis Smith didn't bring in his best mate to play off the pine.

Jameer 100% will play out the season as our starting 1 guard but the Magic will look to deal him at seasons end, we have surplass in the position. On his career year, yes finally putting up some above average numbers. His reaching 30, he should have been a 16ppg 8apg guard 4 years ago.

What does it matter if he's making $17 million coming off the bench? That should only be a problem if he isn't playing many minutes but he will be.

Having Arenas coming off the bench to light up opposition 2nd units will be huge in the post-season.

me too funky. me too. same goes for any western conference side.

oh and, kings gonna implode it seems

A person with direct knowledge of recent statements by a high-ranking member of the organization painted a different picture, telling CBSSports.com that frustration with the Kings' 5-22 record had reached a breaking point.

lebrone thinks hes the most important person in the A, but i for one disagree. other than stern here are the most infuentual persons:

1. A person with direct knowledge
2. cash considerations
3. unamed source

nastiest block of the year, can't believe it wasn't block of the night on nba.com (though another bogut block was). Cousins got a rude awakening in this game, Bogie absolutely abused him.

i think the block looked better cause cousins was put on his arse. didnt really get me out of my seat tbh.

nothing compares to the Davis (i think it was antonio) in the 90s where he blocked some poor sod by catching the ball and bringing it down. best part was his glare afterwards.

lakers-celtics game 7 on espn naowwwww!!!!!

Scalabrine just brought in to finish the half

get on!!!
I'm so thankful that the relo's have the TV and I haven't accidentally stumbled on to ESPN. Scal's D for those few seconds of play was my highlight of that game.

Difference between general intelligence and bball understanding though. I'd definitely have Howard above average in the latter category.
Just saw this now.

Josh has far below average BBIQ.

It wasn't just the parade of fallaway 21 footers, it was the countless errors he'd make. I won't even bring up the timeout issue from the 06 Finals. Just talking about general stuff.

He always gets lost on rotations. He doesnt know how to run breaks.

He is the only swingman who regressed playing with Kidd.

I'm happy to have Gilbert here but his last really good season was 4 years ago now. He is 29 in 2 weeks, has a history of injury problems along with his obvious mental issues and shoots 42% in his career. His contract is all kinds of horrible but his contract shouldn't make a difference to him being a starter or not.

Right here, right now the Magic will be a worse team with Gilbert as the starting PG. If he gets back to his best (massive IF) then he will be the number 1 PG and have earned it. As of this moment he isn't close.

He may have made lots of errors, but otoh he was smart enough to turn his meagre talent into an all-star appearance. I'll point out again that he had no particular NBA skill - average shooter, poor dribbler, OK athlete etc...yet he was the 2nd/3rd best player on a perennial contender.

I guess it also has to do with how we define BBIQ - I include shit like understanding of angles on offense, rebounding positioning etc...for example, I have Z-Bo as well above average in BBIQ, even though he's a selfish dumbass.

Best block ever = Laphonso Ellis

i liked his stint on offence. running floater that wasnt close. the look on pierces face was priceless

ah yes, that was the one! my earlier post couldnt have been further away from being correct!

I define it in the same way and maintain he did those things badly. Agree to disagree.

The fact he was the 2nd/3rd best player says a lot about how good Nowitzki is.

Over the past 6 years, our 2nd best player has either been a streaky, undersized SG or a 36-37 year old PG who has no lateral movement.

Just watched that Game 7 again. Now that I've seen it not in a state of emotional duress...

1. The refs did not hand the Lakers the game. They attempted more FTs because the Celts kept fouling.

2. Aside form the Gasol up and down, the reffing was pretty good.

3. No team in the league would have score 65 points against those defenses.

4. Bryant is lucky they won, because that game would have been his legacy's Waterloo.

5. Why did Boston decide to run isos down the stretch?

6. I still think Vujacic is a ***.
