Lets keep em all in here, rather than post a new thread for each one.

Latest one I heard is that Cox and Seaby are both out of contract, and yet to resign, and the club may want to trade either one as both would carry quite a significant amount of trade value.

I heard that Cox is about to resign shortly but officials are up in there as of what to do with Seaby. Most feel that Seaby is too good to play 3rd ruckman to Cox and Gardiner and most feel his trade value is gonna be very high especially at clubs like Adelaide and Kangaroos who are really searching for a ruckman. I'd say if the right deal was offered then Seaby is a big chance of going this year.

Another rumour i have heard is that of Ashley Sampi being traded. Apparantly most feel he does not have the work ethic to be a top class player and they want to get rid of him while his value is high.. Im not sure if he would be traded unless a real good deal was offered considering he was pick 6 ... So from what ive heard Sampi is a very tradeable player and not untouchable as most would expect.

cox has re-signed. im pretty sure seaby is still contracted for next year.

ive heard that port are very keen on zack beeck. i think u might find we get damon white from port in a straight swap.

Freo would entertain the thought of sampi and play him in the middle.
I doubt you will get pick 6 for him, maybe Troy Longmuir and a 2nd round pick might be the go.

Well Seaby is talking about how he's looking forward to next year at WCE so it doesnt SOUND like he is going anywhere. Obviously, anything can happen at trade time but i dont think he will be anywhere but at the eagles next year.

He won't be 3rd ruckman, he'll be 2nd ruckman. The suggestion is that Gardi won't play in ruck anymore due to injury. Plus Seaby is developing into a good forward....saw him play against Melbourne in Round 22 and he was someone really promising.

Sampi will definitely stay. He's proving extremely effective in the centre - strong tackles and pace - and can still kick some amazing goals.

I think Morrison and Green are tradeable.

i dont think the eagles would take t-lo. and i also dont think the eagles would trade sampi, he has won 2 games, and drawn 1 for us off his own boot, and took mark of the year in 3 seasons on the list, and 2 seasons playing. i doubt we would trade a future superstar!

The Sampi trade thing was in the Australian newspaper sometime last week (thursday or friday i think). I heard the Seaby one from a friend of mine who also read it in the paper (dont know which one or when)

We should only trade Sampi if we can get some value in return. Woosha needs to do the same ultimatum thing to Sampi as he did to Embley. Whatever he did... it worked. We need at least one goal sneak and I actually don't think Matera will be around that much longer.

The Seaby situation certainly is a conundrum. No one plays 3 ruckmen except the Dockers. I think we keep him around another year until we figure out if Gardiner can come back 100%.

As for rumours I have heard... I have heard from Carlton people who claim to have links with the club that we are showing interest in Lance Whitnill. God I hope its not true.

Sounds great! A 2nd rd pick in a cruddy draft year and the superstar that is T.Lo. What more could the eagles ask for?

If Sampi was thrown around as trade bait, I imagine we'd get a fair bit more for him than that.

btw, my source was a caller on SEN1116. The caller reckons he spoke to someone from the club a few days ago, and was told the eagles can't fit 3 ruckmen into the 22, and may have to offload one of them, quite possibly Gardiner. Total BS if you ask me, but a rumour nevertheless.

yes, thats total BS. the eagles would never trade gardiner. in the near future anyway!

Could live with seeing Sampi go, as brilliant as he is. But would only do a straight swap of a high draft pick, or a quality consistent player, who may not quite have the brilliance of Sampi.

Seaby can't be let go. Too good.

In the future i'm looking forward to the following tall structure of the team:
FF - MacDougall
CHF - Gardiner (and forward ruckman)
Tall Flanker - Staker
Ruck - Cox
CHB - Lynch
FB - Glass
Third tall defender - Hunter or B. Jones*
Bench - Seaby (playing backup ruckman and pinch hitter in the forward line)
Bench - Gaspar or Hansen, or perhaps both.

*One of Hunter or B. Jones is likely to be traded IMO. Probably not this year, but give them another year and make the decision who is the better option down back. Both would have reasonable trade value, whilst not being superstars.

I also think that if Gaspar can get over his injuries, then one of Hansen or Staker could get traded. There just isn't enough room in a 22 man squad for 9 193cm+ footballers and another pretty tall back. No point having a player of (probably) Hansen's ability around when he can only get in the team on the back of an injury to someone.

if tarrant gets a lot of soft tissue injuries at his age, in a couple years time, imagine how injury prone he will be. another richardson in the making if you ask me.

I doubt Sampi would be up for trade and I'd hate to see him go. I think after Matera he is our only true crumbing forward option and Matera probably only has 3 or 4 seasons left in him. Samps can also play on the ball and has shown at numerous times his extraordinary tallent. Dermie was making comments about his consistency and I think that is a real problem as we all now how good he can be. I think he needs to stay up forward on a flank and maybe having a run on the ball every now and again. Also I think Hansen or Staker will defintley be traded but not this year maybe in a couple of seasons for a young tall defender of similiar ability. Hansen is more of a true CHF whilst Staker is a utility so with Gaspar and Gardiner so there might not be any room for Hansen in the future.

I'd be amazed if we traded Seaby. Sampi does need to lift his workrate, but I suspect the Eagles would respectfully decline sabre's kind offer of T-Lo + 2nd rounder!

As for Whitnall, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a nibble. Woosha would know him from his time at Carlton, he's one of the few Carlton players not to lift under Pagan, we need a CHF, and he has undoubted talent.

Carlton will probably demand too much, given their previous estimation of Whitnall's talent & their lack of draft picks in recent years. And Woosha would have to be sure that Whitnall would lost weight and increase work rate, but who knows?

Sampi should not be traded.

I really can't see why people keep throwing up names like Wirra, Sampi, and Doogs as trade bait.

Part way through the season I was as mad as hell and suggested that the Eagles need to trade aggressively, but as the season unfolded, this team gelled and we are putting the right people in the right positions. The spine is coming along nicely and with the added bonus of gardy being back next season, we look ripe for an assault on the top 4.

We need players as Wirra and Sampi, they are the future of this club.

Other rumours (don't know if they are official whatever that means  )

Leon Davis + 2nd Round pick = Wirrpunda
Steven Armstrong = Wirrpunda
Shane Woewodin = Wirrpunda + 2nd round pick
Whitnall = Wirrpunda + 2nd round pick

Most recruiters would probably say you could throw a blanket over virtually picks 15-40 (approx) this year. To me that means keeping our 1st round pick and using it in the draft is of the utmost importance.

Wed be stupid to take any of these. Wirra s***s all over Davis and Armstrong. Woewodin is the softest midfielder in the comp and we dont need anymore midfeilders let alone pretenders. And Lance Whitnall would eat half our list and then die of a heart attack before playing a game. No deal/s.

Hahahahaha. I especially loved the Wirra + 2nd round pick for Witnill
