Does this mean I should stop watching all that midget pr0n?

pretty easy to avoid. If u go onto pr0n sites, never log in or like any of their vids. With the amount of free pr0n shit there is on the net these days, there is no need to have an account.
The article makes it seem like you don't actually have to have an account on the pr0n site - if you don't log out of Facebook before leaving, Facebook Connect tracks every site you visit on the web.

wat is the point of the time line?

And does this only count if u go to a pr0n sight using the same browser/tab as you did facebook?

Facebook is becoming a little too Big brother for my liking

It is pretty worrisome how ambivalent everyone seems to be toward Facebook and how they protect our privacy.

This isn't the first time Facebook has come under questioning regarding how it uses and stores information from users.

Facebook's goal seems to be to become the Microsoft of the internet. They want to take complete ownership of every facet of a customer's online experience, to the point where they're so integrated with its functionality that breaking away is just too difficult.

They're scarily good at it. Not many brands are able to convert massive market share into user dependence.

Read something sometime over the last 18 months that had a scenario of using you facebook account as proof of ID to get into a Night Club or pub cabaret.

It seems facebook could easily become an Orwellian nightmare we all flock to be a part of.

Doesn't it already show up on your wall a site if you press "like" on it.

Or will this mean you don't even have to press the "like" button for it to show up? if yes then yeah its crossing into the big brother area.

Could easily replace Facebook with Google.

Both are determined to influence and own the online experience of their consumers.

Google will be huge winners that will have scary implications for us, the user, if their Google+ defeats Facebook in user preference for social media. Google, Youtube and social media. Those are the three things that people visit everyday.

You can tell Facebook are worried. They've changed their interface completely in an attempt to ape Google+.

Not exactly. I came across this blog about the new way it'll work

Facebook is making sharing even easier by automatically sharing what you’re doing on Facebook-connected apps. Instead of having to “Like” something to share it, you’ll just need to click “Add to Timeline” on any website or app, and that app will have permission to share your activity with your Facebook friends.

What activity, you ask? It could be the news articles you read online, the videos you watch, the photos you view, the music you listen to, or any other action within the site or app. Facebook calls this auto-sharing “Gestures.”

A simple solution: don't use Facebook.

Absolutely correct...

I have never setup a facebook acount and never will. Can't stand the concept or the people behind it.

Facebook absolutely believe that there should be no such thing as personal information on the web - it is actually quite scary.

Them along with Google also break hundreds of privacy laws each day and only go unpunished because these companies are helping to prop up the American economy. If they were in any other country they would be prosecuted and shut down.

I think you don't have to press 'like' for it to show up...you just have to be logged into facebook at the time you visit the site.

I think this is pretty bad. People are already screaming about how much they hate it and it's a clear invasion of privacy (seriously, what makes them think that we want to share EVERYWHERE we go on the internet with our friends? SERIOUSLY....) but for some reason there's no talk of changing it.

In the past, I've never been a vocal Facebook changes hater. The ads don't bother me, I am fine manually changing my privacy settings, etc....but THIS one bothers me.
