Sorry to the Geelong Rucks, but I think that what Geelong needs to move forward, even win the Flag next year, is a quality ruckman. Somebody who is going to go almost all day and throw their weight around. A Max Gawn. That's what a ruckman used to do. This guy will get Geelong another premiership. Sean Darcy?
The best current omen to have - is to have Hawthorn beat you in the home and away season
Past 4 seasons the Hawks have finished 15th-13th-14th and 16th - yet in each of those years - they defeated the Premiership team of that season ( slight qualification - they drew with the Dees when they were Premiers )

Pies just won a flag with 2 rucks that are worse than Stanley. Meanwhile teams with elite rucks, Bulldogs missed finals, McInerney wasn't really very influential in the GF, Gawn was certainly not near his best this season especially in finals, Darcy managed 15 games this year (in his 7 seasons on an AFL list he has managed 21 games in a season twice, the next best was 15 games this year and in 2020, getting a reputation as injury prone).
