AFL Club
Geelong
How can we convince the club to allow members (public) to view training, there may be other teams who have closed training sessions, but I'm not aware of any. My grandchildren often attend training at Hawthorn but when they come to visit me in Geelong its a lock out. Maybe we should start a members petition.

I would contact the club and ask which training sessions are open to the publlc.

According to the club web site there was an open training session on July 8 last year I don't see anything planed for this season. I see the players interacting with the kids of Geelong at other planed days that's great. As far as open training in general is concerned I'm not in favor of open slather it is after all their work place and to me adults frequenting training sessions is a bit like grown men wearing footy jumpers to games, pretty lame.
I'm all for catering for the kids though.

The answer is none.
Fair enough.
Not aware of that.
They must have their reasons.
Wasn't like that when I was a kid growing up in Geelong in the 60's.
But then either was professionalism.

They don't want to pick the rubbish up when everyone leaves, they could run a few laps and have a kick to kick and sign a few jumpers for the kids occasionally before getting down to the serious stuff after turf them out if they wanted to.

Suppose it's a bit different for us cause we have a closed ground.
If you went for Norf you could watch as much training as you want as there's nothing they can do about it.
As a kid used to be able to go to all Cats training. I used to go to the corporate boxes (timber boxes lined with carpet) and pretend I was loaded and kick the footy from one to the other.
A young Gazjnr used to be running around there too.
