Operation Get Tippett (Officially, finally, over)

I have a feeling this Sydney deal will fall through..

I'm with you. This reeks of how we did the Fev deal. Obviously not quite the same circumstances with Tippett's leaving, but in terms of a decision made that put some senior players offside and was paying way overs. Will be very interesting.

Crazy Horse...

Crystal Ball Time.....

Deal falls through, goes into draft, picked up by GWS, plays up forward for 4 or five games where he gets smashed by defenders as their main forward target, doesn't like this and develops un-diagnosable migraine issues and never plays again; accept at the Sydney Opera House, in drag.

Interesting that Sydney have the space ,now Bradshaw is paid out.
They also lost out in the Fevdrama.
Think he only played about 9 games for them.
He did pretty well out of them.

$111,000 a game. Very well indeed. :)

Well bugger me eh?

looks like it was all about the cash after all.

Meanwhile over on the Crows board, they are majorly pissed and who could blame them?

In any case, I think we should move on quickly now and not hang our hats on still getting him if the Sydney thing falls over....I'm pretty sure Kerr won't be hanging around for too long waiting for the next thrilling installment of Days Of Our Kurt to unfold before deciding on what's best for the BLFC

If both us and the Suns move on and secure other deals that makes chasing Tippett impossible salary-wise, and then the Swans deal falls over... What would happen next? I'd imagine the mysterious Victorian club might come into play. Would get very interesting if that unfolded.

Ohh!
I read it as "Operation Get Tippett Aborted" (which I thought a tad harsh and spiteful).
Punctuation is pretty important huh.

Sooo, we maybe, actually really could get Kurt aborted? hm

To be honest I am glad he has chosen Sydney, if you want to chase cash that's fine, but has really treated the Crows poorly the last month and I think we are better off without him.

The Swans do have a way of getting the best out of imports, but this is different, my gut says it will fall over.

Also interesting to know that in this article http://afl.to/QZODor, his manager seems confident that Kurt would have gotten to GC in the PSD. Apparently GWS wouldn't be interested. Going to be very interesting to see if Sydney can manufacture a trade that suits Adelaide. Otherwise I'd love to see Adelaide let him walk to the PSD.

Thankful that Tippett chose the Swans :D Didn't want to give up pick #8, nor did I want to see Polec head back to SA.

In the space of 2hrs, albeit in a prelim final, Tippett went from a pick 23 trade at best, to a pick 8 +player/s.....yeah, nah

Terry Wallace even suggested 2 x first rounders would be needed . All this based on ONE game against a plodder like Shoenmakers?

Good Luck to the Swans :thumbsu:

I'm fairly sure that when Sydney signed Bradshaw on a bucketload, that I heard at the time that they needed to actually spend their extra 10% of salary cap allowance or the AFL would likely take it away from them. If this is the case, then it makes sense that they'd look to fill out that amount with a star signing.

Additionally, the Swans do actually have a few stars who are aging, including A.Goodes. Tippett could well be part of a successful succession plan as well as providing Sydney with a quality top-up whilst they're in contention for a flag. For instance, Mumford had a run of injuries this year, and S.Reid was arguably disappointing over the course of the season when compared to what might have been expected of him (except for his game against the Lions) and Tippett's inclusion could well be highly value both up forward and as ruck support for the Swans.

I wonder for how long Sydney had to pay out Bradshaw's contract, as well as for how long his contract counted against their salary cap. If they continued to pay Bradshaw for the full three years and it counted in their TPP up until the end of this year, then it would make sense that they'd have the cash to throw at Tippett at this point in time.

Mind you, I think the actual trade itself will be problematic for Sydney. I imagine that the likes of B.Meredith and/or J.Lamb might be tabled as options alongside Sydney's first pick in the draft.

Longmire is gonna have a fun time tapping someone who is still celebrating a premiership and tell them that he needs to go to Adelaide.
