Bit harsh on him Bo. Its not as if he's been sharing pictures of girls in bikinis and lingerie on facebook.

Troy (MIA)Taylor

Hello Tiges!
I come in peace.
Just wondering if any news on Troy Taylor?
Last I heard he was living it up in Darwin .I wonder if he caught up with the boys on the trip?

Re: Troy (MIA)Taylor

I heard Hardwick say he and I think it was Benny Gale and maybe another were gonna visit him.

Re: Troy (MIA)Taylor

He was supposed to be catching up with Craig Cameron whilst we were in Darwin. Apparently the club sought permission for him to play in the warm up game for the NT side, but pretty sure he didn't play.

from what i've heard it's all about:
wah wah i want a free house or i'll refuse to get paid hundreds of thousands to play sport every week

i'd rather have someone not as good as long as their heart is in it

I know that's what was written in the newspaper but I'd refrain from taking the context they wrote it in with little more than a grain of salt.

Sad story, sad outcome. It's going to get a lot tougher for him from here on in. As an Aboriginal, it makes me feel angry about his situation and future prospects - but as a Tigers fan, all I want the club to do is move on towards our next opportunity. I'm sure the Club will continue to support Troy in trying to get him back into the yellow and black - he's got top ten talent - but until then it's probably better we just drop the whole issue and look to next week.

Much more moderate comments on this than usual :thumbsu: stuck away from the board for a while because of what happened with the last couple of TT threads but think I'll be back posting from now on

Delist and move on.

We are a football club not a youth rehab centre. As much as I hope the kid gets his stuff together, RFC need to move on for what is best for RFC.

Sorry to hear about your time off popcap, and particularly that it was the attitudes of some of us on here that caused it. Welcome back :thumbsu:

You make a lot of sense with what you've said here. Unfortunately speculation and comment on one of our players, particularly one as mysterious as Troy, is hard to subdue.

Why do people feel the need to constantly undermine Taylor's situation?

He could be having the same issues as Morton for all we know yet he is treated with total disrespect.

I think countless of people would have been miss quoted by there parents or their parents tend to simplify what they think their children are feeling and can often at times be way off the mark.

And because of one throw away comment people refuse to be understanding or let go of the anger when discussing the issues he may have.

I think he may have had trouble fitting in with the group and just felt uncomfortable with his living situation since moving from NT,

Give the kid a break and some time to mature. The Club certainly are, so why shouldn't you.

I haven't got a real idea about what the drivers are but, given some of the inferences must contain some smoke, his life experience(particularly outside a fishbowl) , a growing maturity, what makes him truely happy etc...will surely shake any potential current dysfunctional perceptions Troy may have. The way I see it, for Troy to grow he needs to drop various things that might be distracting him( which may or may not include the bottle(I don't know except other web comments) and get the footy back in his hands for Richmond.

Otherwise, IMO, unless there is a benefactor I am unaware of he and his family have less chance of a better/healthier life experience!!

No one gets something for nothing. And even if you have something, plenty will want to take it off you, so without application in whatever you pursue you can never achieve what you desire IMO!!!

I'm a bit sick of this comment getting brought up when no one knows the context of what he meant. He was living with Mitch Morton, looks like he wanted to live by himself. The most likely scenario is that with his criminal record there is no way the kid would not have been able to get a lease on a house by himself so needed the club's help to do so.

Fair chance the club didn't want him living by himself given his track record so either wouldn't or was delaying the process.

If he genuinely did ask for a house then fine, he deserves the ridicule, however no one except the club and Troy know what that comment actually meant so it is ridiculous that he gets critisised for something he may have never actually done.

Like everyone, i love the kid, but you can't put an old head on young shoulders. I just don't think right now he has the mental fortitude to do what is asked to be retained. He could make it back to AFL, but it wont be with the Tigers.
There is any number of kids out there willing to do what it takes to try and make it, i'd rather persist with those. Good luck Troy, but, farewell Troy.

Sorry to intrude, Just wondering would any sort of mentoring or anything along these lines from an older person who has been through a lot of this stuff that TT is going through.
I know being a pies fan id love to see krakour help him out, now he's what you might call a reformed citizen. (not meaning to offend in any way - just though some of the older people from communities etc. who have been through a lot of the hard times could be of great help)

Hate to see the talent lost to the game

I guess the difference is the Pies have cash, they can take time and develop players (or take the gamble), we don't have the cash, and are at another critical juncture in the clubs history. We just can't afford to piss money away. He's got talent, bucket loads of it, but he just has "cultural" issues adjusting.

Troy has an opportunity most suburban footy players would give there left nut for. He just appears to not have the desire to take his chance and make the most he can of it?

I would be disappointed if the RFC continue with Troy next year if he can't commit to RFC.

Not a footballer but Ernie Dingo has a lot to do with him in terms of mentoring and I'd be surprised if Phil Egan wouldn't have been involved with him in some regard.

I disagree!!!!

The rationale behind the fact he has been called a deliquent in this thread based on a perception probably has contributed to him leaving so it is something that can be fixed provided the club has the leadership expertise and Troy is open to being open!!

It is a business, but it is a people business!! Until the club can handle different people from different backgrounds and incorporate all into the same strategy on the football field to succeed, the growth of the on field success will be limited.

At the same time the club can't be milked by a ratbag forever. I just don't think Troy is a ratbag of his own device yet particularly given his age and the majority of his life has been played out in the one fishbowl!!!

lol the delinqent perception comes from a very real source. hanging out with the wrong types robbing petrol stations or was that a liquor store probably both belting up people at parties mate that is crap and is no misperseption. imo the perception is correct. no its proven.
hes been given every possible chance by many people including the judiciary to make something of himself yet he chooses to go down the easy route and run with that crowd he thinks is his so called mates.

ya know you want the club to succeeed and talk about people coming from different backgrounds well how many kids get taken or even looked at with criminal backgrounds,
for sure and certain you have to gel all types together but you dont draft those who arent likely to gel in the first place.
well i say rather than useing a pretty reasonable pick on such a high risk prospect perhaps we should have done due diligence and went with someone who at the least had the mental toughness to see things thru.

we no longer look at players who cant kick and lack in basics because its just to hard to get it out of em and no matter the amount of development you put into it it usually fails. its the same with kids with taylors attitude. imo he thinks hes owed something and he doesnt have the discipline and mental toughness to put in the hard yards. this was always the risk its why he slipped to where he did.we have tests for it nowdays and a lot of kids dont get drafted if they fail these tests.

simply put if kids dont have the neccesary tools to start with to be developed then they wont be developed.
the attitude or mind set of draftees is just as big a thing nowdays as is basic skills in the game.

for me the club has to make a choice based on one thing. what are the odds of taylor, not us taylor turning his attitude around and embracing the work ethic that is needed to succeedd at this level. does he have the mental toughness or is it always just going to get to hard.

for me if we think he has say a 60/40 chance of turning it around come seasons end offer him a rookie spot and put the ball firmly in his court to get of his arse and work for it if he wants it enough. if theres less than a 60% chance delist him and stop wasting our time and give his spot to someone who will work hard for it.

Gee Santa you must have sprinkled some commonsense on your cornflakes this morning as you have hit the nail on the head with this one. :)
