Sorry, I thought the issue was him being captain.

Now it’s that it leaked? How did it leak of interest?

A lot of people providing opinions on this subject without knowing what they’re talking about.

Chris Scott said it best on the subject - everyone needs to grow up.
Not everybody makes it public knowledge though - so who leaked it to the media is the big question.

That’s probably because you are the resident bad smell on the Eagles board and everyone just wishes you’d go away. ☺️

Don’t speak to Briztoon that way, he is a passionate WCE fan and knows more about WCE list and list needs than most WCE fans. Shame on you.

If this guy stays at West Coast, there will be an uproar.

Retain an injury riddled, over-rated forward (or is it backman??) and lose the opportunity of another club overpaying and obtaining what is likely to be a top 3 pick.

This guy makes do difference to West Coast, and it's baffling why he is a captain.

Bizarre fall from grace. Looked like he was going to be a star. His knee must be ****ed.

He has only kicked more than 1.5 goals a season once in his career. Yep, only kicked more than 30 goals once.
He will be 27 start of next season.
With his injury history, I would be surprised if he is playing AFL in 4 years.

Yet someone he's worth 800k+ a season AND/OR worth a Band 1 comp. Ridiculous system.

I'm sure as a Richmond supporter (holding Norths and your own first rounders) you have absolutely no skin in the game here
That is a fantastic reach mate

That 1 place difference is really going to make a world of difference to me or Richmond FMD
Now lets talk about your Bias view

If you were a brisbane supporter what would you expect your club to pay for Allen keeping in mind his output and medical condition.

The West Coast supporters will want the entire board and list management sacked
Pyke will be running for cover.

Would be funny though as the dreams of the eagles BF supporters would be crushed worse than when they traded for Baker

But he was behind Kennedy & Darling.

lets not forget this ;)

It's fine not to agree with this is why the AFL does it this way.

There's next to no help for the bottom clubs now, due to how heavily compromised the draft is these days with father son/academy picks. If you also take free agency compo away, clubs will never get off the bottom of the ladder.
Explain Hawthorn and Adelaide getting off the bottom of the ladder then.

Neither team were even remotely close to being as bad as WCE(or North).

A lot easier to attract players via trade and FA when you aren't historically bad.
I feel like you're overstating how bad West Coast has been. For all the doom and gloom they've only had one wooden spoon in three years down the bottom, same as Adelaide between 2020-2022. Sure West Coast have been worse overall, but that's different to being historically bad. I think like Adelaide, if they get a few good draft picks through the door, it will attract good veterans seeking to come home.

North is a better example, though I'll also say that getting a top 3 pick in FA compensation has done nothing to get them off the bottom, just as it didn't for Gold Coast in 2018, Rankine left them before they started really climbing the ladder.

I've thought for ages, even back when Gold Coast were winning wooden spoons, that if the goal of assistance to bad clubs is to make them more competitive, it shouldn't be in the form of draft picks, it should be more cap space so they can blow other teams out of the water for veterans. Abolishing the cap floor would also help.

You're going be disappointed when Eagles only get a end of 1st round pick
The Eagles will end up getting band 1, either outright or the AFL will bump it up for them to avoid the calls for a priority pick.

Umm, what? No team has been historically as bad as WCE, including Fitzroy, which you should know.

Were on track for our 4th consecutive bottom 2 finish, plus the % is horrific, which is the real indicator.

Of course a pick in isolation isn't going to help, unless you snag a generational talent.

This issue is that clubs like yours continually get free hits at top end talent, despite competing for, and winning, flags.

How is it fair that a premiership contender can raid the pointy end of the draft for multiple years, yet the bottom club only gets one pick inside 30?

Just abolish the soft cap and put list sizes back to what they used to be. That's what would actually assist WCE more than anything else.

Okay, if you say so.

Good, we agree on that.

Yep, and I don't feel even the slightest bit bad about that, given how badly we got raided when we were poor, including by West Coast. I know full well that in the absence of home grown talent, the Go Home 5 debacle will happen to us again the minute we have a couple of years down the bottom.

Blame the AFL for instituting the F/S rule and not being bothered to run academies themselves. So long as the institutions exist, I want my club to profit handsomely from them.

But since we're mentioning the scenario of premiership contenders raiding the pointy end of the draft, I'd like to point out your club got Ben Cousins as a F/S after winning two flags in the prior four years. The shoe is just on the other foot now.

Just abolish the soft cap and put list sizes back to what they used to be. That's what would actually assist WCE more than anything else.
Let rich clubs use their riches to ensure they can always stay competitive, you mean?
