Channel 9 just reported that Otten is likely to be named Round 9 Rising Star Nomination

Nothings been announced as of yet though...

Well if he does get nominated then he would definitely deserve it, definitely the most deserving player to receive it from this round. Fingers crossed.

It's odd. Everyone used to "know" who the nominee was this time Monday night last year, with the announcement coming on Tuesday just like it does now. It seems as though the AFL managed to clamp down on the leaky joint in the system, because today was the first time this season it's made it into the media before the official announcement.

He's been as consistant as any player eligible for the rising star, up there with Rich. I've thought he's more deserving than Dangerfield to receive a nomination for most of the year, this is not a slight on Danger at all, of course.

Obviously it depends what they measure the players on, it seems they tend to reward flashier eye-catching players first, as well as tending towards high draft picks. They also bow to pressure from the clubs and pay too much attention to said clubs, and the media talking up their young talent. None of these factors indicate that Otten will be nominated but I think he's as deserving as anyone else in the league at the moment.

Muston is 22, just too old.

Haha, looks like he has it, they just can't release the results yet. Certainly deserves it, is right up there with Ziebell and Rich in terms of consistent high quality performances this year. Gee, I know its a BS award, but when was the last time we had 2 nominations in one year, or have we ever with a possible 1 or 2 more on the way.

They said on Channel 9 its the first time since 1999 that we've had 2 in the one year.

If Otten does get the Rising Star nom - and it looks like he has - it's certainly been well earned. :thumbsu:

Another top game against Carlton, just one of many that he has played this year.

Just watching him, he looks so much at home that you'd think he has played for some years not just the meagre total of 11 games that he has.

If Doughty is too young and inexperienced for a RS nomination then I still say Otten is too old. He has been playing with us for years already. How can he possibly get a nomination when he has been playing for so long?

Good looking lad too

no homo
I'd turn for him.
Also its funny to read "spoiler]no homo[/spoiler" in my reply to thread window, like somehow finding that out about you has spoiled things for me :D Maybe just my strange sense of humour.
