Yep WA fans are very good. Appart from that looser W thing they do.

Appart from age and demographic problems we may need some music or 'Americanised' pump up stuff because as you said Drum, you're the odd one out when yelling, which is bloody stupid.

The one Freo game I've ever been to, earlier this year, the crowd was just as quiet, if not more, then any Crows home game. Although they were doing bad.

I guess you just can't expect the crowd to be cheering all that much when everything is going wrong on the field.
True, but that was one of the worst games in history, only to be outdone by the Melbourne disaster a few weeks later. Freo fans didn’t really have a whole lot to cheer about considering it was an atrocious game and they were losing. But I hear that “Freeeeeeo” chant a lot and it’s really quite good.

I guess my perspective is somewhat clouded given we haven't even won at home this year. It'll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts when we're winning.

I think muppet is OK. :)

Out his ****ing clacker too that goal. i was right behind that. A very loud "**** OFF" could be heard soon as it left his boot.

I was right behind it too, and I was watching it all the way into the post until it broke inside at the last second.

****ing muppet

hahaha, I know. He's dynamite on he right foor in the right pocket. Was a kick I practise a lot bacause as a right footer you'll wanna trun right but turning right towards the bounday is a hard one. He's always had that in his resume and I knew it was gonna be good.

The atmosphere will never improve unless/until we get a city stadium. It will encourage younger people and hopefully discourage some of the older folks. I've got nothing against older folk by the way. Just too many of them contributes to zero atmosphere. We need to get rowdy. It's not the movies, it's the footy! City stadium. It won't happen. So it won't improve. Simple.

it won't encourage younger people. Any new stadium will have a transfer arrangement from both SANFL membership Cat 1 & 2's and to AFC season ticket holders. No one will give them up, they are too valuable, like SACA membership. So, unless any new stadium was gonna hold 70,000 and inject 20,000 new 'young' people - which will not happen (nor is it planned too, no concept has been greater than 55,000 to date), the same people will go week in week out regardless of where the patch of grass is. You could get more blue hairs there given they will all wanna catch the bus and train in. The only way to get rid of them is to stay at West Lakes, make them all drive and starve them out with petrol money and parking expenses ;)

Sorry to just butt in here but do you guys even have a cheersquad in Adelaide? I was watching the game against Geelong for you guys and there was no one doing stuff behind the goals.
Whats up with that?

I think the problem is that the majority of our season ticket holders don't have a strong link with an SANFL club. They haven't grown up supporting their local team in the outer, learning to understand the game, enjoying the banter with opposition supporters. So many of them are football novices who complain about Crows players just the same as they'd complain about bad service at a restaurant.

This post is the best post in the thread. Spot on:thumbsu:

^^^ Yep, so many just do not understand the culture. When you go to footy you can (hopefully) expect a bit of noise, bit of banter, some colourful language (should not be any swearing but lets get real people, its gonna happen so dont be shocked when it does), and people letting their emotions run freely.

If you cannot handle that or do not want to be in that environment...STAY HOME.

Perhaps a qualification of membership should be a log book of attendance at SANFL games...maybe a 5 game quota including some home and some away!

Essentially what he is saying is our supporters are young and thus havent experienced SANFL football.

Which isnt true at all when you consider most of our crowd are older supporters.

I didn't take it that way at all. In various workplaces I have come across many people, normally in their mid-40's to 50's who support a SANFL team but have never actually been to a game. These people purchased a Port or Crows membership because it was the IN thing to do. They go to the games but dont really care if we win or lose, its more about them being seen to be doing the popular thing. They have probably forgotten the final score by the time the Prado has pulled out of Football Park. In reality, the actual game itself is probably a bit of an inconvenience/bore for them.

Its like your workmate who you never even knew supported AFL football until the Crows/Port are in the finals and all of sudden he/she must get tickets to this week game.

Do not worry guys, I go to aami quite alot, Port supporters are much, much worse, That I can assure you.

Are you kidding me? I might be biased but personally the Port atmosphere at games are brillant. I sit in bay 126 pretty much in between the cheer squad and outer army and there is not 1 person in our bay that doesnt chant or yell at the top of their lungs.

If your refering to being worse as in scum, well you have a point LOL

*sigh* I think I'd prefer 30,000 REAL fans than 50,000 pretend ones. :(
