Genuine question: no axe to grind, I genuinely don't know the answer.

What has Rob Chapman brought to the AFC in his role as Chairman? I mean in tangible terms, not just 'a wealth of business experience'.

Before I jump up and down about removing the bloke, I'd like to know what he's brought to the club that makes him the best option from today onwards.

He's a banker. It's an incredibly rigid environment, not a lot of room for flair and individual decision making.

Actually, I have a Global financial crisis over here that would beg to differ.

I'm interested to see if we'll get any rational analysis in this, or if if will be the same flippant throwaway comments that get repeated as nauseum.

That's why I asked the specific question of what the Chairman has tangibly brought to the club. I'm not interested in "ZOMG Trigg must go!!!1!! and take Chappy with him !!!11!!1!" I want to know what the bloke has actually done.

can you add to what he has actually done? not being smart but i really have no idea what he has done, other than come out and say after the tippett process he will come out and tell us the whole truth What happens after, he comes out and hides behind lawyer threats. Was very disappointing, because we still dont know what went on.

I think it would be very difficult to get any insightful discussion.

The nature of the role of chairperson means that all we really have to discuss are the overall results. For the most part we aren't privy to the actions that are taken.

Actually ex-banker, not sure if you can call sitting on the board of banksa as being a banker as such. Pretty sure he got given the push by Westpac for the failed Bank of Melbourne rebranding, must have gone willingly on the proviso they didn't tarnish his reputation lol.

To me he comes across as a politician in waiting, loads of meaningless spin, and at all costs he wants to protect this reputation he has built for himself in this state. Which means he will never rock the boat, stand up for the club etc, because everything he does is in his own interest.

Sadly if the Tippett fiasco couldn't result in change at the top nothing will, we just don't have that competition like Victoria where there are lots of influential people wanting to be part of the club, and those that are influential in SA unfortunately are happy with the current admin apparently :(

Ok, serious question. What would make a good Chairman? Seems a bit of a nothing role to me with the way Chapman does it. What would we expect? Lots of talking without saying anything and promises lots of action without doing anything. That job could be taken by half of us who post on this board :)

A bit off topic but is he President yet? that was part of the license reverting back to the club thing.

Yeah, we can only judge him by the direction the club is heading. I reckon he has overseen a fairly dark period for the club and remained inactive.

The fact that he was unable to remove those responsible for Tippetgate, heavily suggests he was implicit.

Can only judge him on the poor response to tippett-gate & hasn't offered up any strategic direction to get afc back to being the powerhouse it was when he took over.

Give me someone like Wayne Jackson any day.

I lost faith in him when during the Tippett crap Rowey asked him a direct question if he knew about the clause in the contract and like a politician he answered a completely different question and just rambled on as if he hadn't actually been that question. I was stunned by his blatant lack of answer and typical of Rowe there was no follow up or insistence that Chapman answer the question he was asked.

Now I'm no genius but when you combine things like that with the fact Trigg kept his job it's pretty obvious that even he was in it up to his neck.
