On paper we have one of the best lists in the AFL. Having said that we do have some weaknesses that need to be adressed in next trading and drafting periods. Its no secret that we need to strengthen our ruck stocks and we definetly need a KPP that is capable of playing at both ends of the ground primarily being CHF. This KPP has to be good in contested marking and his skill level has to be up to AFL level.

So in short I think we need the following

2 Ruckman (1 capable of playing AFL footy srtaight away if neede and one good young developing ruckman)

1- 2 KPP capable of playing at both ends of the ground.

1 tough in and under midfielder since Bickley is set to retire at the end of this year we need a long term replacement. Majority of our young midfielders are more of running players and besides you can never have too many good in and under midfielders.

Likable outcomes:

2 Ruckman: the likes of Stephen Doyle and Mark Jamar. And get rid of Ben Marsh:mad:

1-2 KPP: Someone that can be drafted and in 1st round. Someone like Jay Schulz from Richmond.

1 tough midfielder: Probably 2nd or 3rd round pick

Thoughts??????

Ben Marsh will just have to extract the digit and become both in the short term.
We need to replace Smart .....soon:rolleyes:

I think McGregor is good enough big enough and strong enough at CHB, TJ. IMO we need a stronger FB than Bassett to play on the gorillas in the comp (to quote denis Pagan).

And yes, we do need a replacement for Smart, who has been a terrific servant of the club from its inception in his own unique and confident way. I still think he'll cut the mustard this year though TJ.

The need for an up and coming young back-up ruckman, which really results from the continued pathetic performances of Marsh, is legendary and must be attended to at the end of this year. As for Marsh extracting his digit, that is most unlikely as it seems to be concreted up his backside!! :(

Did you hear Marsh baulk on 5AA the other night; when Cornes' asked him if he was aware of the "talk" surrounding him? "

" Ummm...Yes I am" according to Marsh

It sounds like Gary Ayres has told him of his deficiencies; now he just needs to fireup on the ground.

...and if you are reading this Ben. Goodluck proving to yourself, and to your detractors, including mwa that you do have what it takes!!

2 capable ruckman short IMO (excluding Marsh). 1 who can step up now to backup either Clarke or Biglands if the other is injured. The other a youngster to be groomed for the AFL in a few years time (ie. for when Clarke retires).

1 key backman to cover Bassett against the big boys. However, not as critical as above as we have the likes of Rutten in the wings.

Reckon we have too many midfielders. If your talking harder types, we already have Roo, Bicks, Stinger, Mattner & Dogga. Goody isn't exactly a wimp either. I don't see a problem here with our depth.
