After going tp the GWS match and watching us against the D's on TV it appears to me that our decision making and style of play is very disjointed and the players are uncertain as to which style of play they are supposed to be utilising.

By this I mean that the overlying theme under Malthouse was an direct style of play around the boundary usually set up by Davis getting the ball over or through the press to a halfback position allowing us a quick and often lethal and quick inside 50.

It has been said over the last few months that Buckley wants to aim for a more direct and corridor orientated type of play with his aim to appear to take the ball through the top of the 50 as quick as possible.

I guess that the crux of it all is Bucks taking a winning formula that has been ingrained into the team over the past deacade and reworking it to his ideals over a very short period of time.

So, in saying all this, we might feel that Pendles, Swanny, Cloke etc are our most important players, however my feeling is that our most important "player" is Bucks. He must leave the many nuances of Malthouse in place whilst imparting his style of coaching onto our club.

It's a tough road ahead and I wish him all the best.

N.B Looking forward to a full team on the paddock in the hope that we become more cohesive.

I know you know this already, but he is not a player. So therefore, you mean most important football person at the club, and if so, it is not really ground breaking to nominate the head coach as the most important football person at the club (all other coaches would be the same at their clubs)...

So you are right - Cloke, Jolly, Pendles, Swan are our most important players. Our most important 'football person' is Buckley.

I get what the OP is saying, but I reckon David Buttifant might end up being the most important person at Collingwood, if he isn't already.

Fitness, and having as close to your best 22 fit and running, well as is humanly possible, in September is as vital now as coaching, recruiting or any other aspect.

And that's if the interchange stays as it is, if they go to 2 + 2, god help us, because Bucks might have to make a comeback just to top up our list numbers due to attrition.

Our most "important" "player" is probably "the" one who "provides" the greatest "output" and "who" is the hardest to "re"place. So,

"Travis" Cloke.

Mine is a smoky..I noticed while Ben Reid was playing v Mel Dees he was pretty much in control then in the 2nd half Heath was the elder statesman on his own with the kids..it was a tough task..but moreso Reid played the GF injured he had no sideways run in him cosequently Hawkins got over the top....so for me without Browny having played a return game I reckon Reid is huge in the scheme of things
