Batchelor
Buckland
Calan
Garth
Lonergon
McCarthey
Prismall
Sheringham
Slade
Thurley

As for some reason i cannot get ABC anymore and watch the VFL, could i have any recent info on these players and how they are traveling? Who should be we keeping, who should we be getting rid of? And whats happened to Thurley?

Cheers

Batchelor - missed a few recent games with a hammy,but he looks good.I still reckon he's Ling's lovechild. ;)
Buckland - I like him and hope he's promoted to the senior list.
Callan - hardly played this year because of a shoulder injury
Garth - a major disappointment, apart from the last 2 weeks.
Lonergon - He doesn't seem to have a permanent spot [CHF or CHB]
McCarthey - will be gone
Prismall - promising onballer
Sheringham - dwarf back pocket whose missed recent games with a broken hand.He returned on the weekend.
Slade - he'll be lucky if he's retained.Injury has cruelly stuffed his career
Thurley - I think most of us agree he's been stiff not to play more games.Must keep.

A bit harsh on Garth, Jubs.

He's not had a great year, but he's been better than a few others who have a run in the forward line of the VFL team.

Batchelor - Has showed abit in patches and on that note, is probably worth keeping. Personally am still unconvinced of his AFL prospects thus far though.

Buckland - Had a tidy end to the year last season, possibly helping him keep his spot on the list. Hasn't caught on as well as one would have hoped, but deserves to be persisted with. Hopefully will be upgraded, even if form on surface value doesn't appear to warrant it.

Callan - Has been harshly dealt by with injuries and the match committee. Is clearly a class above VFL; hopefully the match committee see it that way as well. When in the magoos, has shown his trademark courage, tidy foot skills, and blooming leadership qualities.

Garth - A tweener with a fairly monotonous game. Hasn't been given alot of gametime as one would have expected (from what I've heard), and must play to his strengths if he is to survive the cull. Can't pinpoint too many reasons as to why he is worth keeping, with our budding forward line prospects sure to play into the equation as well.

Lonergan - Has continued development both forward and back. Hasn't shown great consistency or the ability to kick a bag when up forward. Promising nonetheless, and should be kept for one more year. Needs to make up some ground on the other young forwards/backs if he is to keep his spot past next season though.

McCarthy - Injury hasn't been kind. Continues to dominate some games, and then go missing, but his ability to kick big bags wins some browny points. Is one who is sure to come under the microscope when the axe is swung at seasons end.

Prismall - Has shown some nice signs in patches. Nothing special to warrant senior selection as of yet, but at the current rate, could make some noise further down the line. Nothing unexpected.

Sheringham - Fairly small in size, and possibly lacks a yard or two in pace. However, has neat disposal and shown the ability to run the lines on the odd occasion. With our lack of small defenders, would give him another year on the list, but others suggest he may not be safe.

Slade - Is almost synonomous with the word 'injured'. Can't judge his year at all really, seeing as the very few games he's played haven't come with mch gametime. Going solely by his previous form before the OP, can be a nice depth player. Would like to keep him, but his injury-plagued season/s and the need for delistings doesn't help his case.

Thurley - Has matured as a player this season, and was rewarded with AFL experience. Hasn't been given much of a chance in the seniors, with the selectors seemingly liking the prospect of him in the VFL, where he is clearly a class above the rest. Should be kept.

I may've been a bit harsh. When he plays out of the goal square he looks good.He leads better than a lot of our tall forwards.

Considering your reviews G, you believe that there will be very few easy delistings. That combined with a lack lustre 05 draft , do you think its possible sombody like Slade or Mc might be delisted and redrafted?

I can definately see Macca being redrafted if he's still there, Slade is probably in the same boat. Both of these guys have shown something, it's just a case of whether their bodies are up to it, Macca in particular due to his good recent form in the 2s.

What is the story with Slade? I don't anything about him as a player except that he is constantly injured. Surely that would harm his trade prospects a fair bit. How talented is the lad?

Id say he and Rooke were fighting for the same spot. A neg defender but handy and brave

I don't think it's necessarily a case of 'very few easy delistings'; or at least in the way you appear to be putting it (could purely be the way I'm reading into this).

There are certainly a clear group of players who are under the microscope moreso than others, so in that way you could argue there is already a 'set' group who will come under fire, thus some 'easy' delistings on hand, if you will. I'm just not entirely certain who gets cut and who stays from that group.

I think it's far too early to say what position the club will take in offseason list movements. For starters, contracts need to be sorted out; especially those such as Ricco's, who pends on guys like Bartel and Dog Johnson. Whether or not Ricco stays on will also determine the number of cuts the club will need to make, as will the decision to upgrade someone like Buckland or not.

Slade and McCarthy are, I would imagine, a couple who will come very close to the blade when it's all said and done. A move to delist and re-draft them certainly has some credibility to it though.
