While you wont look at the upside of JON (and others ) and try to deny anyone else having an opinion.

I am not calling for mario flogwagon and rayzorflog to go away or anything like that.

Read mario flogwagon's repeated calls for me to depart the board.

Please don't say I am denying anyone from having an opinion telecom

Yeh, just like krakouer!!

Flogjockeys like mario flogwagon ares simply poor judges with no idea. They simply refuse to look at any downside with a young player and try to deny anyone else having an opinion.

JON can't play and will never be able to
Your ability to spot talent is wasted here, perhaps it is time you headed off to Freo, they could use your help, God knows they struggle to identify any talent.

He's alright, just needs to bulk up a bit and improve his decision making.

Oh yes, JON has such ability and I can see an absolute star in the making. He always delivers. We should make him captain.Wow...what a great feeling to know that we have a star like JON to lead us into the future......WAKE UP FOOLS.

On Footy Classified Wallace was asked about Oakley Nicholls and Meyer directly , he said 4 years in the system may be needed depending on when they were drafted i.e 17 or 18 years of age. He said Meyer had hip surgery and it seemed this may get him some extra time but on Oakley Nicholls apart from saying he was drafted as a 17 year old kid the indication that he would be at tigerland wasnt good for him in my opinion. If he is dropped this week he is almost certain not to play AFL again. Personally have never been a fan but surely he must of been told the situation by now ( you are playing for your career ) if he does play lets hope he plays accordinally. Think talk of we could of got player X instead of Y is just all good in hindsight im lead to believe there has been changes so thats all you can do just a pity we made some poor decisions for awhile lets hope the future picks are better

I've never cringed and squirmed as much since the legendary Duncan Fellaway used to murder the football!!!
Time for this dud to be sent to the Yarra Valley league!!!!

i say we stop the fussing and fighting or JON might just lead to a Punt Rd civil war
and that could hurt membership numbers

That doesn't sound right to me. I didn't see the show but TW has been a supporter of JON's and the kid has shown good vfl form. Last year I held an opinion similar to sausage roll's but for some reason it's changed. Seen JON play a couple for the burgers and i like the way he moves, i like his courage, toughness and willingness to run for his teammates. His skills are fine, it is his decision-making that needs work. I dunno, I just have a funny feeling that he could come good big time. Meyer i think is the one in trouble. Ditto Casserley.

Trust me the tumbler is reporting accurately what TW said. he gave no respect to JON( neither should he have) and expressed no confidence at all in the dud.
It is interesting to note several posters on here in the last hour bagging him as well.

delist him now...please

This Jon crusade you're on is getting really boring.

No-one is going to make up their minds about him until he's played 20-30 games. Its obvious to all that he is not the high draft pick prospect the club picked him at, but neither is he delist material. Players get delisted when they've had a chance and not delivered, or in Richmond's case many chances, or a player has suffered a career ending injury.

Jon fits into neither category.

So spare us the tirade for now and you can look forward to telling us that you told us so if it happens.

But right now you're boring the hell out of everyone

I seem to be getting a lot of responses on an issue you say is boring everyone.

Most of those replies are people suggesting you give it a rest.

Agree RT...it's time. We know what the man thinks, no need to keep hammering the point home.
I have gone on record a few times before re JON. I don't think the guy will make it. He seems to lack a feel for the game in my opinion and has trouble getting involved, not to mention the poor decision making. His last quarter was reasonable against Port, including playing a part in our only (and ultimately matchwinning) goal, but one reasonbale and three poor is going to cut it.
I have a theory on players and their worth to a team and their long-term prospects. That being, if the player was delisted at season's end, would other teams be interested? So with that in mind, if JON was delisted in September, does anyone honestly think he would find his way on to the list at another club? I think we all would conclude the answer is no. Therefore, I see no need why we should persist either.
You'll find that very few recycled players will make their way to new clubs come the end of this season. With the new Gold Coast team just around the corner and the impact that will have on the draft, clubs are going to be stocpiling youngsters.
But when it comes to the JON-bashing, it's time to leave well enough alone!
To be honest, from where I sit, I think the anti-JON brigade has been way too critical in its rubbishing of the man. Conversely, I think the lengths that many who have supported him on here have to gone to to be extreme too. Honestly, you would think he was the only guy to have laid a tackle that amount of exposure his tackle in the final quarter has received. That ain't going to save his career...it's expected of him. Nor will three poor quarters either. The kid needs to rebound!

If we delisted him, someone would give him a chance. Maybe one of the expansion teams. And he did more than just that one tackle. He did several good things. You may not have noticed because every time he was in the action, the commentator called him Tambling or McMahon.

He's played 8 games and has the right work ethic and athleticism. He's still growing into his body and will probably have a great AFL build within a couple of years. His skills aren't bad. He makes some poor decisions, but most young players do. People just notice his mistakes more for some reason.

The errors he made against Port, i can remember several other Tigers making very similar mistakes and those included Foley and Richo, two guys that are almost universally revered around here and who have a lot more senior footy under their belt.

I think were all pretty tough on our recruits
the 2005 draft was touted as a thin draft and if you have a look at
most teams first rounders you will see alot of players havent found their feet at afl level yet

Xavier Ellis
Josh Kennedy
Beau Dowler
Marcus Drum
Shannon Hurn
Travis Varcoe
Darren Pfeiffer
Max Bailey
Courtney Dempsey
Paul Bower
Danny Stanley
Beau Muston

Were all top 20 (first 2 pics were PP)

You gotta give JON a chance to play 30-50 games

Xavier Ellis - fully established in the Hawks best 22, played every game this year. Started a year late due to school.
Josh Kennedy - showing great signs at West Coast until injured.
Beau Dowler - kkp missed a year due to injuries, long term prospect.
Marcus Drum - showed good signs.
Shannon Hurn - established as part of West Coasts best 22 until injured.
Travis Varcoe - going well, showing great signs.
Darren Pfeiffer - showing glimpses.
Max Bailey - injured
Courtney Dempsey - shows potential.
Paul Bower - showing potential
Danny Stanley - ???
Beau Muston - injured

JON has yet to show a single glimpse, doesn't mean he won't but really after taking Tambling ahead of a KKP the previous year Richmond look to have totally wasted a good pick, they should have taken Mitch Clark.

Couldn't agree more.

Well said.

Can't find too many others I am too negative about.

Only JON and Meyer are in my sights

I actually beleive he will make it if he is given enough game time he has a very good build for AFL he is quick not afraid of a contest and has good skills. He just needs to build up his experience level young players generally take a long time to develop, the cotchins of the world are the excetpion to the rule

and if OX reckons he is a liability then we should do the opposite the guy has no idea or in his words is a muppet

the cotchins of the world are the excetpion to the rule

Cotchin looks like a genuine star of the future but I find it interesting looking at their stats from last week:

Cotchin (6 games) - 11 disposals, 2 contested possessions, 0 clearances, 2 clangers, 3 marks, 64% efficiency

JON (9 games) - 9 disposals, 3 contested possessions, 2 clearances, 3 clangers, 4 marks, 67% efficiency

People have just got it in their heads that Cotch is a gun and JON is a dud, so even when they have a similar game JON comes out smelling like shit and Cotch like a rose.

Like everyone else, i think Cotch will be the much better player but JON has only played 3 more games. He's judged much too harshly around here.

Look at Thomas for the WOBBLES he makes some terrible decisons gets run down and so one (before you start saying how good he is and he has proved himself yada yada yada...I no that)...

13:30 left remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's game Collingwood v Bulldogs. Ball kicked into Magpie forward line and Thomas COMPLETELY SQUIBS a marking contest. One of those one where, as they say, it was "his turn". He clearly opted out.

I deliberately took note of the time-clock so people who doubted this incident could go back and look for themselves.
