No-ones started one yet, so I suppose I will.

- Pav kicking a bag for the 4th game in a row.
- Mayne kicking multiple again
- Clarke kicked another one (which I think he needs to do for his confidence and growth as a forward)
- Barlow team high disposals and team high CP.
- Roberton earnt his spot.
- Adelaide won, so Richmond are just as far out as we are.
- We have a few players to come in and we are not stuck with the team that played today.

Any others??

Pav, Barlow, Mayne were great today. Thought Ballantyne played well too. Game wasn't as bad as i thought if you discount the first quarter!

- barlow, he was for me the best light of the day. The way he played, the fitness, it's all coming back to him. Hasn't lost anything. Once get gets back that polished disposal will be elite.

- the pressure was good. We didn't win. But you can see the ingredients of a good side, just need to add the class and outside run.

- we can play at the MCG. The signs are good. We hold up well in Melbourne for the first time in our history.

- our team play. we are working together well. there is a different vibe to the team we once knew, that was at times flashy but never had the grit and integration that we are trending towards. Team above the individual is the new fremantle motto.

  • Roberton was the standout positive for mine
  • Barlow, McPhee, Mundy and Ballantyne are on the upslope form wise and I can see them all getting better as the year progresses
  • Mzungu had his best game in 6 weeks, not amongst our best but for the first time in a long time not amongst our worse either

Our effort is great, under Lyon I feel very secure in the fact that our players are giving their all to the game plan. It is just execution letting us down.

A poor start to the game otherwise we were in this game up to our necks even though you could see the Pies talent across the board.

1. Pavlich up forward has regained his contested marking ability
2. Barlow popping up everywhere
3. DEFENSE - We allowed almost 70 inside 50's to the Pies yet they only just pipped a 100 points. Turnovers up field costing us.
4. CONVERSION - 18 scoring shots from 30 odd inside 50's for us
5. McPharlin on Cloke
6. Mayne continues good form
7. Ballantyne was good especially when given a run in the midfield
8. Roberton worked hard all day

Yes all these for me, as well as Pav's ongoing renaissance as a forward. Put Fyfe, Hill and Mora into that team and we are looking good.

1) pressure was good for 4 quarters, even in the 1st when Collingwood got 6 goals. We just lack a bit of class and polish in delivering. Just a lot of quick kicks forward.
2) We won the game if you take away the 1st quarter, surprisingly, it was our accuracy that did it. Collingwood doubled our inside 50s and were pretty woeful at converting. Perhaps a positive for our defense.

This being said we look too slow, I don't think adding just Hill and Mora is going to fix it, seems like we need faster players pretty much everywhere. Most of collingwoods players looked to be at the pace of Balla, one of our fastest.

I was happy with the performance. Fyfe, Hill, Dawson, Sandilands, Morabito and Mellington all missing from our best 22. Great to see De Boer and Lower doing well in the clearances. McPharlin and Pavlich were the best kp on the ground.

Our game style is halfed baked amt but with another pre season and another half season we will see good results.

We got to hear the Freo chant reverberate around the MCG while playing Collingwood. Unexpected it was.

Effort.

Roberton had a great game.

Pav proves that he can still dominate in the forward 50 against quality opposition.

Next few games are VERY winnable.

Just back from game, besides the first quarter and a half of the second i'm very pleased with Freo's effort. All positives have been mentioned and there is some real improvement.

You must have been watching a different game, Collingwood scored 3.2 in their first quarter to our 2 behinds.... I think the commentators made the same mistake in the disection after the game... shows how much attention they pay. Lost the game by 11 points after 1st quarter, but won the last quarter.

As far as positives:
Roberton had a good game, Pav continues his good form as a forward, work ethic was good.

Biggest positive is that we learnt to give a good effort against a good side.
We didn't drop our heads like the Freo of old. It's valuable experience to keep the fight up and if this will help the players have the fortitude to get across the line in a close game.

1. Someone else felt happy enough after a loss to start the positives thread.
2. With no Sandi, Hill, Dawson, Fyfe and a half fit Mundy, we stayed within five goals of one of the top tqwo teams in the comp. On their home ground. In the wet. After being blitzed and totally outplayed for some 90 minutes.
3. MJ - a couple of brainfades, including an appalling attempt to play on in the second quarter that cost us a goal, but continues to impress even a non-fan such as myself with his effort and skill under pressure in the backline.
4. Barlow, Pav and especially Mayne were very gutsy with their run and competitive pressure all game.
5. Mzungu played a better game than his last few.
6. Crowley was good in the stoppages, and got the ball forward well when we were swamped in the first and second quarters.
7. Zac Clarke had some bad moments, but continues to grow with every game - will be great when he is 25.
8. Roberton. Awesome game.
9. Silvagni was better than last week.
10. We kept our competitiveness and attack under pressure.

The chant of Freo was awesome at the game when we came on the run in the third quarter, hope you lot got to hear it at home.

The members pre and post match functions were awesome - but poorly promoted. Lingy was fantastic in being gracious, intelligent and really insightful to all 12 of us that showed for the pre-match fuction. Shero, Barlow and Lower were great at the post match function, even when purple wig man got a bit energetic for my liking...

Thanks Lingy, and great to meet you for all of those that I caught up with.

Yes I think they did rewrite my memory. The first quarter and a bit then! The first 5 or 6 goals they got.

1.Barlow - This year you can visibly see him getting better each week. At first I found myself laughing a bit at him - but only because he was trying so hard but his body just wouldn't do what he wanted it to do.Last week his first half was the Barlow of old but couldn't see out the second half. This week - at last the long wait is over - we have him back completely.

2.Pavlich - He is back to the forward he used to be - using his body skillfully , beating opponents , taking marks and kicking goals. Didn't think I would see it again . Much more of a problem for the opposition than midfield Pav.

3. I missed the first half.
