If you take the test in an auto you are only allowed to drive an auto
if you tried to drive a manual after never having driven one before you wouldnt know how to anyway so it doesnt really make a big difference

anyway i have 15 months to wait till i can get my Ps
****!

Hey guys,

In Canberra getting our P's is alot different to Vic. We have your standard one off test, which you guys have but we also have what we call log book. This is where you go and have lessons and get things from a log book ticked off. You generally have 6 lessons and is easier to do then the one off test here.

I was just wondering do any other states have log book or something similar to it?

SA have the log book as well :thumbsu: We also don't have restrictions on autos or manuals.

all seems very complicated compared to WA and some rules seem stupid. like the being able to drive manual despite not passing the manual test?
basically the way its set up in WA is that there are 6 months between each stage. theory test peice of piss just take the online one a few times and the questions are exactly the same. most people get 30/30, which is good it shouldnt be too hard.
2nd phase test, practical test if you do it in a manual you can drive both pass in an auto you can only drive auto.
Get your log book to fill up with 25 hours experience with another driver
take a hazard perception test which noone fails and you have your Ps at the age of 17.
To pass the 2nd phase test you generally do need to have lessons so it works out pretty well. driving with a driving instructor is so pathetic though they do everything for you. Im reverse parking a week before my test and he is still saying yep go full lock now. I should know that mate and I did, correct me if i did it wrong but I shouldnt be made dependant on him. :o

25 hrs? suggested time here is 120 hours lol

and im pretty sure if you take the auto test here you can only drive auto. and i dont see why an extra 6 months in an auto would make you any better at driving a manual...

You can only drive manual when you get your full license after three years (in Vic). Stupid in any case; would stall so many times driving manual the first few times.

Yeah ours is something like 50 hours required. Yet we have one of the lowest deaths to P platers if i am not correct?

I assume everyone else has a P off course? You can do ours after 6 months of driving on your p's. All you have to do is go in, listen to someone talk for a few hours and then make a poster about safety. You now get something like 4 extra points and you don't have to display your P plates.
