He is the very steretype of why most people in this State hate Port Adelaide - 'cause of their drongo supporters.

Actually he is one who fits the "poor unfortunate label" & as such should be looked upon with a little bit of humour,

I think they are realising that winning Showdowns means jack unless you can follow it through in the finals.

Jars i wouldn't have said no to winning last weeks showdown & am only just coming to grips with it [again], "BUT" there is always the next one & what better way for us to turn it around than in the last h&a game in front of their own supporters,

can't wait for that one ;)

Everyone seems to be getting farked off with negative posts by opposition supporters. Perhaps we need a third board as neutral ground where that kind of stuff can be aired. The 'Showdown' board.

I have to admit that the double standards are starting to really p*ss me off.

I'm not a moderator, but I can quote one!!!

In the words of Porthos

"The Floodbuster, either quit with posts like this or **** off."

macca i haven't posted on their board [other than a cheesy grin on one of their polls] since the ban & i don't know if i ever will [ might have been tempted if the showdown result went the other way] & i guess some of the hassles i have had with some Port posters go's back to the Bickley /Wakelin incident when a few of those poor unfortunates were going a little bit over the top in what they would do to Bicks if they come across him & i just pointed out [in a nice way] that they wouldn't say boo & probably would turn & run the other way, since then i think i was on borrowed time when it came to posting on their board especially since Porthos & Dreamkillers became moderators which might i also add since those guys had become mods i toned down quite a bit in my description of the Port posters, but i would not like to see us ban anyone from here unless they are way out of order in their language & personal abuse,

Pred, normally I don't get uptight about these things. In a two team town there will always be intense rivalry.

But it's how it's done. You are one of the greatest sh*t-stirrers around but you don't offend me, even though I don't always agree with what you say. In fact you've given me many a good laugh - loved the avatar with Sadam Hussein in Crows colours.

PAfolwr's post was a bit over the top, but overall, he's okay. He just got a bit carried away on this occasion.

On the other hand The Floodbuster seems to have lost the plot. It's not just a different opinion, it's just plain being abusive. No way would you or any of your Port mates wear that sort of cr*p on your board, and neither you should.

And it came across like a diatribe from a patient under hypnosis.

Perhaps it's a transcript from Floodbuster's last phychiatrist's session.

"The Crows are going to get me!"
"The Crows are going to get me!"

Thats going to change this time around mate because the bloke in my avatar will take the Kings to Western Conference Championship and then onto the NBA championship:D ;)

First you lot keep reminding us for two years that winning the pre-season cup means Jack Schitt, 97 & 98 is what it's all about.
When you finally win one, you all carry on like pork chops, pat yourselves on the back repeatedly, and after beating Freo at home go around bleating how you will not lose any games this year because of this that and the other.
Even making a TV commercial (that I haven't seen by the way), and threads such as 22 games.

That is a load of crap!!!!!!. No one ever said that Wizard CUp was a worthy achievement and there was only one poster on this board who started "22 wins" thread. That was PrideofSA. If you managed to read that thread you would have found out that his suggestion was shot down to peaces. Noone agreed with him and majority of us agreed that 15-16 wins and a top 4 finish would do us just fine. You lost me on the TV comercials business:confused:

Just noticed my post has caused a bit of stir around here.
Good, it was meant to create a bit of a stir, although not quite in the way it did
Of course I know it hasn't been the majority of posters that did the backslapping after the Wizard cup win, and of course I know that a hell of a lot here weren't too happy with the 22 Wins thread.

Perhaps a few smilies here and there were appropriate to get the gist of the post, in particular after the Yeah yeah bit. However, part of the reason behind what was supposed to be a tongue in cheek post, was also to indicate the way that a lot of threads have been going since the showdown. From a Port Adelaide follower (PAfolwr) point of view, that has also been annoying.

Before anybody says that my post was not an exaggerated view of a number of recent posts, I suggest to go back and have a look.

For what it's worth, I actually found this showdown win to be perhaps our best yet in terms of coaching, player commitment and skills. As close to being a complete team effort, more than any other game since we joined the AFL IMO.
That not only is promising in terms of finals, but also reflected in the Medal count.

Siffy- Wasn't there an add on TV or Radio down there, where someone suggested to Ayres that there would be no losses till August or something?

Your lot say that after every Showdown win.

Greatest win the club has ever had yadda yadda yadda

This only reinforces our theory that they are your grand finals.

:D ;) :p

Which is exactly what I found so frightening and disappointing, as from our point of view the game was quite the opposite.

It was disappointing in terms of coaching, player commitment and skills.

The only good thing to take out of it was that despite all this the margin was only two goals in the end. But that is small consolation believe me. :(

This brings us back to the start and noddy's original question really...

Dude, is it just me or does Floodbuster have some serious issues?

FB, wake up please. Port have been in the competition for 6 years now with no Grand Finals to show for it. Sure, the Crows didn't have any either at that time, but the difference - the BIG difference - is that we went on to win 2 back to back flags during our 6th year (97-91=6, for the Port fans out there).

Well how big a moron are you. Ill tell you. Your a big bloody moron. You have a go at Port, you insinuate that all our fans are stupid, yet you cant bloody count!!!
First of all you didnt win back to back flgas in your 6th year (for a start there are not two premierships in the one year)....second of all it was in your 7th and 8th years.
91 - 1st year
92 - 2nd year
93 - 3rd year
94 - 4th year
95 - 5th year
96 - 6th year
97 - 7th year.

Learn how to count next time before having a go at us Port supporters for being brainless.

Youre a grade A fool.

Our 7th year isnt even over yet. Weve done a lot more in our first 6 years than you lot certainly did.

I think The Floodbuster has gone too far coming on to our board and posting such abusive crap.

noddy recently posted the following post on the Port board

"All this energy you people are displaying as so-called hate against the team for all South Australians = the mighty Adelaide Crows & those Colliwobblers from over the border maybe could be put to better use, like turning up at the weekend to support your club & get above the 30,000 mark,"

which brought this reaction from their moderator, Porthos

"Noddy, either quit with posts like this or **** off."

ultimately followed by another Porthos post

"The post I quoted had no redeeming feature. It wasn't anything positive about Port, it was pure crap, and frankly, I'm getting sick of reiterating that this is a board for Port supporters, not for Crows supporters to come and bait Port supporters, especially in reference to your modus operandi."

and a one week ban on noddy from posting on the Port board.

You'd have to think that The Floodbuster's abusive and at times vitriolic post would have brought a lifetime ban if we had Porthos as a moderator.

Last time i checked, that was Noddys 50th negative post on the Port board in a row...hence the 'quit with these comments.....'. The way you are talking, youd think that was Noddys only ever post on the Port board.

I like noddy, i think hes a good poster, but he is very negative about Port on our board a lot of the time. Im sure you all wouldnt appreciate it if i wrote 50 negative posts about the Crows here over the next few weeks.

Channel 9 news commercial advertising how you talk to Gary Ayres on a weekly basis.

All week before the St Kilda game (and the day after it) the advert went like this:

James Brayshaw: "Gary...your in top form, looks like you wont lose a game until August"
Ayres: (big smile) giggles

Then you went on to lose that week. I thought it was amusing that Channel 9 still ran the commercial after you lost.

Is it just me or does this not make sense. I think you'll find they won premierships in their 7th & 8th years, not 2 in their 6th.

This means that just to keep up with the Crows, the Power have to win the next 2 flags. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. So sit down, shut up and enjoy the fact that you are just another side in the AFL.

Lets look back to round 5/6 1997, how many people thought that adelaide were going to win 2 premierships, i'd say none, so how can you be so sure we wont. (Btw, i'm not saying we will, but still i'd say it is more likely at the same stage of our 7th year than it was for the afc at the same stage of their 7th year).

As for the original topic, not sure we take the showdowns any more or less seriously than you do, it's just that we've been able to win a few even when we have been underdogs, but that happens week in, week out in the AFL. Once it happens a few times players think they can do it again, hence the reason we have been able to keep the wood on you guys. As Neil Craig said there is one certainty, that being that you guys will beat us again one day, lets just hope it isn't in the near future!!

OK I didn't see that. It sounds like a pretty stupid comercial anyway.

This will be my last post on why i was booted off your board & i shall mention the ban no more,

Granted i use to come on the port board most times to have a stir & look for some toing & froing but mostly it was all tongue in cheek & about the only times when i would become as you guys call it "negative' [ i would call it returning fire] was when someone from your camp would say derogative & insulting comments concerning the AFC & their players,
when some took offense to my habit of referring to your good selves as paps, pap heads i then refrained from the use of such names in posts from then on [well on the port board anyway]
now i could go back & drag up numerous posts put on the Crows board by yourself & other port posters that would make my so-called negative attempts look like extracts from one of Port Adelaide 1870 sermons on the history of the PAFC but i can't be bothered,

When i was banned by Porthos i had no problem with that only with the way it was done ie= the delay in informing me [which Porthos explained the reasons next day anyway] & i suppose the post which eventually sent me on my way which i considered to be of the tame variety, but it's the Port Power board & you can say what you like & except what ever posts you like.

So I am going to be banned from your board from giving my opinion?
Not a problem.
My post must of really got to you guys, I must admit you guys had it pretty easy this week. The Port posters besides myself were very low key in our victory, they have moved on and don't give a **** about the Crows. Even I admit I did go on a bit about it, but I don't know, we shouldn't be flattering ourselves for beating a heartless manufactured club. I think this thread was more of a case of you guys not handling the defeat as well as we handled the victory, the majority of posts have been about us being to passionate about showdowns etc , most the Showodwn threads of late have been posted by Crows supporters, so if you aint worried about showdowns why post a thread on it in the first place?
The sweetest of all is how you supporters talked it up all week, predicted easy wins for your side and fell flat on your face.
In front of your home crowd, on our TURF, how sweet it was.
Now it is a non-event. Every time you guys lose you say you played ****, does it ever come across to you guys that you are ****?
Anyway being my last post on this board and all, it was great sharing my knowledge with you guys.

You want me to stay Noddy, Thanks for your hospitality I feel so welcome. :)
I might actually post more often on your board now.

Much as it pains me to say it, eventually the Crows will win a Showdown. When that happens, who here is going to say "it's only 4 points, we're only interested in winning finals"?

Without the win you may undermine your finals chances.
It only takes one game to change the "destiny" if you know what I mean. We need every 4 points on offer.

I hate losing and detest losing to Port but with every loss against you guys I take solace in the fact that we will have learnt something and there is always next time.

I mean its now obvious to me after watching the tape that Port played to a good gameplan, particularly early, to get on top...they played that short possession game that unsettled the Crow players, we didnt control our agression to the extent we gave away some terrible "easy" frees.
We didnt match up well and we were not underdogs.

I hope we've learnt from it and if we happen to get beaten again by Port prior to the finals it wont be because of them reasons.

Crows will play Port in a final...then it will be on for young and old

Macca, one thing I've learned about you in a short time is that you don't tolerate sh*t.

Go back and read The Floodbuster's post and imagine the same post on your board slagging your club and supporters as that one did??

You just wouldn't wear it and neither would any of your mates - and neither you or they should. Why the hell should we have to put up with such abusive and vitriolic crap on ours???

As far as the topic of the thread is concerned - passion in showdowns - I wish the AFC had the same passion as Port do for these games. I HATE losing these games to Port at the best of times, but even more when Port is playing with a weakened side.
