Can someone please explain to me, why this kids career should be put on hold on the back of some fitness guru, who has indicated his body may or may not hold up under the riggers of international cricket.
I say, just let the kid bowl.

the selectors have to be held accountable for ridiculous decisions.

Its not cummins fault he's been selected but if he's to be an international cricketer he should perform at that level. You don't play international cricket to learn the basics...Unless you are SPuD smith.

Yet you still stick the boot into Smith at every occasion, don't you?

We're all frustrated with how the selectors are using Smith/the fact they're using him at all, yet you seem to have a pathological hatred for him that goes way beyond reasonable.

Dont know a whole lot about the fella, except from what ive seen, and that is he can bowl the damn thing fast. I would have thought they'd let him just give it all he's got, stop trying to be all fancy with these sports sycologists or whatever they are, his job is to take wickets, he's doing that so let him keep doing that!

why not? its laughable.

you earn you should earn a test spot, not get it gifted to you.

Who read the excerpt from Greg Chappell's book the Fierce Focus?

If the new selectors continue along the Hilditch path of picking mature age cricketers to play for Australia, the Australian test team will resemble the English test XI of the 1985 to 2000.

Patrick Cummins, Aaron Finch, David Warner, Josh Hazzlewood and James Pattinson are the next champions for Australia.

I am prepared to drop Mitchell Johnson from the test side after the South African tour. Do you consider him as a prospect for the 2013 UK Ashes Series and the 2015 World Cup?

Mitchell Johnson is a liability.

Cummins, Finch, Warner, Hazlewood and Pattinson are capable of winning test matches for Australia. They have the X Factor. They play an entertaining brand of attacking cricket and they have a chance to put bums on seats.

You guys can laugh at me, but I have no respect for half of you bloggers who continue to read articles from amateur cricket journalists like Andrew Wu and Jesse Hogan.

Yet you continue to stick the boot into Smith personally. As you said, it's not a player's fault if they're being selected by incompetent selectors.

You should be attacking the selectors, not Smith himself. For some reason it's the selectors' fault if Cummins is picked, but Smith's fault if Smith is picked. Is that right?

Its not his fault he gets selected, he's still terrible.

For all your talk of him being gifted an opportunity I suspect any player, after a season in which they hit four first class tons and also can bowl leggies, would get a run around the australian side. Has done alot more than some others to get a shot at higher honours.

Not that he justifies being in the side at present (or especially the test side last summer), but he has hardly done nothing at domestic level to get a shot

It's all fine and good for this board to line up Peter Siddle and post constant abuse of him but if anyone dares have a go at the NSW kid who does not deserve selection, cheerleaders get all Britneydefenderkid on them......

the most interesting about that is usually the players who make it into or around the test and odi squads on the back of one decent season are usually Aus U19 players eg players they've marked for years and proceed to pick as soon as they start performing once or twice. pattinson, cummins, marsh, smith, warner and so on. but siddle never actually made it out of the vic u19's. well that and siddle only played 5 games in that season.

Henriques is one that comes to mind. List A average of 22 with the bat and 41 with the ball.. got 2 ODI's for Australia because he was "the next big thing". Maybe they got the averages the wrong way around..
