This hits the grading to a tee. No idea what you're on about. A punch is intentional. That's why it's a punch. A guy bracing in midair is just being careless. He jumped to try and get the ball. It's the correct decision.
Both a bump and a punch are intentional acts, Christian doesn't get to differentiate once he has decided it isn't a legitimate football action though he can send it to the tribunal if he doesn't think the penalty matches the act.
Cripps wasn't going for the ball and bracing, he jumped to bump a player.

In the two incidents, one hit a bloke high and knocked him out. The other hit the chest and slightly glanced the head with no harm caused. Christian giving the same penalty for both is ridiculous.

It's absolutely the correct decision. Please look into the grading system and what is deemed as intentional and what is careless before criticizing the MRO.
Even if you jump for the ball, you're responsible for what happens if you jump into somebody's head.
Then any injuries from aerial contests should get the player suspended? Sure there's been a few knees to the head during specky attempts. Those players should all be copping weeks under this logic.

I don't disagree, just arguing what Carlton will say to the tribunal.

Christian is a numbskull. He really just makes it up as he goes along. Have a listen to the rubbish he serves up here and while you are listening, bear in mind Ah Chee was knocked out, could not play on and will miss next week,

You be the judge. Harris Andrews got a week for this and Nick Larkey played on.

Real danger game for the Dees this week They may think the Blues will be a walkover without Cripps and take them too lightly.

To me initially it didn't look like Cripps was actually reaching for the ball and had chosen to bump so I thought it would be deemed intentional. After a couple of replays I thik he's trying to chest mark the punched ball before Ah Chee can take possession but it's a bloody clumsy attempt. I think they've got the grading right. It'll probably kill Carlton's season as it is so it'll be costly.

The most disturbing thing about the incident is that Darcy then proceeded to describe Cripps as a superstar. Not entirely sure what Cripps has done to deserve the moniker besides winning B&Fs of a team that doesn’t play finals footy.
Darcy thinks the random guy who comes out to toss the coin is a superstar. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what he says

Cripps has hurt his legacy. As the captain, his team is on the brink of making finals for the first time in his career and he does that crap. It will be a monumental capitulation if they miss this opportunity. Finals time is such an invaluable learning experience. Two years down the drain if they fail this test.

Will get a week because the AFL wants Carlton to play finals.

In a fair world he'd get 3+

Also, * these simp commentators Darcy and Hodge trying to get him off on good bloke grounds.
Cripps isn’t even a good bloke. Tosser and always has been

So we'll have Carlton fronting the appeal with a panel of QC's and bio mechanic experts and senior church people to prove that Cripps is a good bloke and therefore shouldn't be suspended because he didn't mean it and he helps old ladies with heavy shopping cross the road.

If by a miracle he's still found to be a naughty boy, a court injunction will be slapped on the ban by a Blues supporting magistrate, to be heard in October.

Thinking this could set a record for the longest ever appeal.

Matthews tried to say he was trying to spoil but he jumped and braced to bump, not extend his arm out to spoil.

Two weeks is on the money. He elected to bump in a marking contest. Not spoil nor tried to mark it.
Wasn’t a marking contest.

Could have kept low and bumped fairly.
Could have waited half a step and tackled.
Could have jumped with arms outstretched and contested the ball.
Could have tried to punch the ball away.

Instead, elected to launch himself and bump, and concussed a bloke taking him out of the current game and next week’s fixture. That’s on him.

Plowman & O'Meara is probably the best comparison for mine. Late bump in the contest with no extended arm in the contest. Opposition player knocked out. AFL requested 2 weeks, Blues appealed. Lost. Appealed again. Lost.

Unfortunately for Cripps, the extended arm is needed to get him out of trouble, but would certainly have done more damage.

See you all on Friday once this has all played out this way.

Harry McKay was On The Couch tonight.
They asked him about it and he said "Crippa just ran through him"

Sounds about right.

Could be just the thing to fire up Carlton and rescue the season. A bit of 'us against them' grunt.

Thought that would be losing to Adelaide. Only reason it got closeish yesterday was that Brisbane put the cue in the rack
