Therein lies our problem. Rodney Eade is our football strategist, head of coaching development and opposition analyst. Eade's greatest strength was always on getting the most out of his resources on match day. He never had the ability of a MM or Thompson in pre match preparation.

MM himself would disagree with you. He always rated Eade's tactical ability enormously, and said that he was always able to identify and exploit your side's weaknesses.

We have one of the more experienced senior coaches in the competition whose main job is to analyse the opposition for god's sake.

You need to have seen last weeks episode of the couch to really understand the context of his comments. They were talking with Heath Shaw about our defensive side this season and Shaw actually admitted that at the end of last season they decided that the last season the defence was good and that the focus of this seasons preparation was on our attacking style. They showed some good footage as well. Unfortunately for us these days I don't think you can really sit on any area of the game without getting caught out and it's pretty clear this year that there are certain areas defensively where we have been exposed. So I think his comments were justified. Perhaps a bigger concern is how much work we have apparently put into functioning as a better attacking outfit without that much to show for it.

Roos has not Idea how to beat us

I agree with your thoughts about Roos. He is definitely one of the better media types going around.

But I don't think he would have made the comment unless there was a reason behind it.

Now, there could be any number of reasons.

(1) Perhaps it's true and is widely known and acknowledged? Perhaps Bucks has a theory of 'Let's mainly worry about ourselves and winning games and the opposition can worry about everything else?' (yeah, I know, unlikely)

(2) Perhaps what Roos meant that our players aren't as well prepared about the opposition? Maybe Bucks has a philosophy of leaving the opposition analysis up to the coaches and the players are expected to simply follow the coaches instructions without necessarily understanding what's behind those instructions?

(3) Roos is being mischievieous and trying to plant a seed of doubt in Collingwood's head that they're unprepared?

(4) Other?

maybe he's extremely biased towards sydney and hates us with a passion?
He wants to be the guy who says i told you so when they finally beat us.

Roos is a good analyst, not the best, King is the best but he is a bit of a moron and makes stupid statements. Roos is also capable of them too and is super biased towards Sydney.
First off when Roos says we don't put work in to the opposition he means in terms of tagging. He uses that term a lot.

Eade is definitely our opposition analyst he has said it many times. That is his day to day role but he also manages the development of the many coaches, however that wouldn't be a day to day thing.

He's been building up to this game for a few weeks now, since commentating on the Giants game. His comments have made sense but I feel also have had a bit of troll in them, knowing that every little bit of psychological advantage would be needed for the Swans to win, as they have their own obvious psychological disadvantage when playing us, seeing as we always beat them. Roos obviously really want the Swans to finally win one and was trying to help them over the line, but I don't think we was too ridiculous in his analysis.

I'd expect him now to go back to declaring the Pies as the team to beat on the couch this week, and the Swans will have some work to do but still be a definite threat in September.

Pretty sure he means time into opposition players ie a tagger, we don't tag the swans do.

That's what I read into it in which case he's correct. For that matter so are Collingwood v Sydney at least. I'd rather they a tagger for a few other sides though, particularly Hawthorn.
