Pav's book has an extract on the Harvey sacking which is very interesting i must say.

- Harvey was going to be sacked in 2010 since his coaching was so bad (shows how much talent he was wasting...) and they had discussed it numerous times
- The players were initially dubious until RTB spoke them. At that point they were all on board.

Just shows me how Harvey was on borrowed time for ages. it also explains why he hasn't even been looked at by other clubs for the senior role.

Harvey sounds like a real madman. Full credit to the club for getting rid of him. I have absolute faith in Ross to lead us out of the desert into the promised land.

I think we all knew there were problems at the time. I mean half the squad were out injured - all the hallmarks of a tyrant coach pushing his players to hard.

Best one was when Palmer accidently broke Barlow's leg - was a genuine accident and then post game tough guy Harvey decides to get in Palmer's face about it. Palmer decides on the spot to pack his bag for GWS come end of the season. Now that is player management

Yep, found the article fascinating. Really tells a picture and shows how far away supporters generally are from the truth.

the fact they were openly discussing sacking Harvey in 2010 (when we made the finals) is pretty amazing.

It also shows you the level of respect and stay Pav has in the club.

You could tell especially when He left that Chris Scott was the brains of the out fit.

I remember one night against the Tigers IIRC we were leaking goals and at 1/4 time Scottie came out , gathered all the defenders , didn't rant , just pointed to various parts of the ground and explained how to stop the leaking. The goals dried up and we came from the best part of a fair bit behind and won the game.

I thought then that this Chris Scott bloke could coach a bit.

Palmer has alot of talent and it was a real shame we lost him. Imagine him vs Suban and you have your answer why we would like him in the team. i get the feeling Palmer would play well in a finals scenario.

this was 100% harvey's fault, for the Barlow incident, and then secondly for pushing him to come back too early from him ACL AND playing him out of position. iirc at one point they had Palmer playing off the half back line. Crazy.

The funniest part is that I don't think Harvey saw the punch coming. He was acting like a tyrant - had half his squad out injured due to total mismanagement - yet thought things were progressing quite well.

have to agree Ripper.

I remember the Melbourne game, we were 20 points down at half time and Harvey was ranting and raving in the changerooms carrying on like an absolute nutter.

We came out after half time and got pumped by an additional 70 points.

Smart coaches save their sprays so that they retain their effect for key moments in big games. But Harvey was wheeling out a spray almost every game. Harvey was such a goose - everything was mental to him. Sore leg = get a jab and push threw. Leg is even sorer = stop being a pussy and fight the pain. Leg now incapable of use = wow aren't I unlucky with this long injury list

And the club were winding up for a punch since 2009. Like literally from the moment he took over the club were going "ok this isn't working out".

Yet old Harvey was thinking he was going well.

The fact he was doing a corporate function, finished and then got the can just shows the complete lack of awareness he had.

This has the potential to be a belting book

He is a well spoken captain after watching the videos on the club website and the rev up one - it made me think god our captain is so much more articulate at what he says compared to the other duds in the video.

He speaks and your spine tingles.

Considering he would have written no more than 1% of this book it will be interesting to see how it comes across.
