As I said to DT very good player but does not suit our needs - if he did we would have pursued him rather than Carey - so I'm not alone with those thoughts.

Fremantle are a different side in WA - quote me a game on the road, and his contested marks stats.

Then Stiffy thinks you have rocks in your head!! :p

The question is what whether it is worth giving up players / picks for him.

Excellent point. Give 'em a second rounder - no more !

aaaaaahhh! you say that now but never say never - does he not have those qualities you would expect of a leader ? - remember less than 50 games and only 22?? ;)

He does have those qualities but he also has the attributes that can also destroy the side ;). He can't be the captain for the very same reason Brett Burton can't be the captain ;)

There's a major difference in that time and experience will eradicate some aspects of Mattners game, the same cannot be said of Burton.

No we have said exactly the same thing for Burton when he was Mattner's age ;)

Its natural and while he might improve those aspect a bit, he cannot correct them a hell of a lot.

I would say someone like Thompson is streets ahead of Mattner when it comes to captaincy ;)

BUMP

Fremantle (143) defeated Melbourne (129) at the MCG

Matthew Pavlich (Freo's best player) 28 touches (20 kicks, 8 handballs), 13 marks, 1 goal 2 behinds.

I think Mods need to make this one a sticky :p

AH! if this were a sprint race I'd be up Shyte Creek

But fortunately for me were in a long distance race and leaders at the 3K mark doesn't mean a great deal.

On Pavlich though never said he wsan't a good player - 2AA selections says otherwise - I just said he wasn't the type of player we need.

Pavlich V Brown - your choice ;)

Stickied for future reference

You can stickie it wherever you like!! :p

Even if you come good, you're still on a losing streak at the minute. ;)

As for the Pavlich v Brown choice.

Pavlich of Course.

Why?

Because we have some hope of getting Pavlich. Absolutely fk-all chance of getting Brown.

people are giving me heart attacks... he better not go home. Something tells me he has more ticker than that.

what makes you think Pavlich will come home. Has he given any indication of wanting to come home?

His dad told me in January that he is planning to come home at the end of 2006. At this stage his WA girlfriend is saying that she will move to SA with Pav.

The only fly in the ointment to this apparently would be if the girlfriend changed her mind, as the relationship is quite serious.

End of 2006 hey ? I must admit, I'd be super surprised if he came back home. Fingers crossed though !
