3080 for 999 that mwave... do I upgrade from my 3070... #firstworldproblems
I got a 3080 to upgrade from a 1070 Ti last year and I hardly noticed a difference in the games I was playing (Tarkov, Far Cry 5 etc) so I would think the difference between a 3070 and a 3080 would be pretty miniscule.

That entirely depends on the screen you're using, there might not be much difference on a 1080p/1440p 16:9 monitor, but there likely would be on ultrawide, 4K, or multi-monitor gaming setups.

Running a 144hz 1440p Screen.

Only time I've really seen it struggle is playing something like Cyberpunk but that thing is a GPU killer in general I think.

Will be curious to see how low the 3080ti drops, the extra VRAM it has might be worth the upgrade for longevity.

Yeah I guess, for reference I'm using a 1440p 144hz monitor

Finally got around to downloading 516.94 driver update. Turn on 5yo game. 30fps.

Reversed. Won't be updating anytime soon.

I've been on beta drivers for a few months now and too scared to update. Honestly have had very few issues with drivers over the years but a few months back the latest Game Ready driver was verified to be causing Destiny to randomly crash. They quickly released a beta driver but as that game is my staple I'm scared it will break again ā˜¹ļø

I'm currently running a 3600 in my daily and a 3950x in my unraid server.

Thinking of getting a 5900 for myself and maybe a 5950x in the future to extend AM4.

So decided to pick up a 5800x3D to replace my 3600x.

my 3600x seems to get absolutely destroyed by Microsoft Flight Simulator and it's my game of the moment.

The sucky thing is that most benchmarks with MSFS are done in the air, where there's nothing really to render. :(

You need to park at LAX, and turn everything on to Ultra and watch as it slowly kills your computer.

Have you crashed into your house yet?

Been about 8 months so I think I'll clean my PC - I have some air cans but do you guys think electric dusters are better? They have plenty of 4.5/5 star reviews on amazon but there are also a significant amount of negative reviews saying they are useless. Are they a worthwhile investment?

Lick it very slowly, make sure you do the tongue wiggle between the capacitors.

No need to turn it off.

But I use just compressed air. I have heard people using 100% isopropyl alcohol, and then you just let it evaporate away.

I just use air and never had a problem. If you can find a small duster that will help giving your fans a good clean then I would get one. Air on its own isn't really sufficient for a proper clean.

I got one of these bad boys when I took apart my old PC that hadn't been cleaned for years and I used the innards to build an unRAID server. Did a fantastic job to blow out years of accumulated dust and muck. Motherboard and parts came up really nicely.

Really good for keyboards too.

Price has really jumped from when I bought it! Was $60 in Feb this year.

Yeah that's one I was looking at. Maybe 41rpm version might be worth the extra $ tho for mine since it's pretty compacted and crowded

I think they're worthwhile. I dislike air cans for their lack of pressure, frosting, having to keep upright etc. Any electric canless air will do the job and you don't have to get too fancy.

I got the following which is a bit more expensive but was slightly discounted at the time. I figured if I bought something a bit more powerful I might find other uses for it and I did. It's actually really good for blowing dust off the back of my TVs, monitors, dust out of guitar pickups, my consoles etc. The kind of thing you buy once, keep for forever and find many uses for

that reminds me i bought one of those dusters like a year ago and still haven't set it up and cleaned the PC >.>

Looks like 4080 and 4070 may release this year after all. I think I'll still wait build a new 4080/7900x system early next year. Just bought a house and moving in next month so going to need some time to rebuild the financial buffer for toy expenditure lol

Same.

I will probably be going for a (hopefully) reduced 5950X, then getting a 7950X a bit later.
