Peake a Saint!

Can somebody superimpose Peake's body with a Sandringham jumper?

I missed the part where our motto changed to "Strength Through... bagging the shit out of a guy before he even plays a game for our club". :)

Seems like we've inherited Freo's version of Raph Clarke. (I'm personally a fan of Raph and don't like or agree with all the bagging that he gets, though sometimes...but that's another discussion) That's all we need!!
I do think he's destined for HBF of the Zebs

Hmm
I can't be bothered offering an opinion on Raph Clarke any more

I'm guessing your comment above is meant to mean that we have inherited Fremantle's favourite whipping boy, rather than saying "we've inherited a spud, but that's ok because I like potatoes". Or does it??

Can I opt for somewhere in between? Freo's favorite whipping boy who probably isn't up to the grade of player that we need. Can't quite see the logic of getting Freo's slops. Then again, who would have predicted the success we've had with Zac?

spin that Kevin Rudd would be proud of... "talented midfielder!!!" bah - good luck with him.

actually in 2009 splits he had more inside 50s on average than luke ball.

I reckon most of the problem was the poor team he was playing for.

Welcome Brett, Rossy will de-Fremantle you over summer.

Dunno about a third rounder, but I'm looking forward to him playing with the Saints.

I totally respect the comments of the Freo supporters, as they have seen more of him.

But an injection of pace is what we have needed for years.

Despite the caning Peake has copped, he's basically kicked a goal a game in 2009 (would love to see that from our mids) and laid 50 tackles, including 7 when we played Freo.

With Goddard, Gram, Lovett and Peake I look forward to a 100% increase on our shots on goal from outside 50 this year, and much less trying to pinpoint Roo or Kosi on the boundary 40m out.

A bit unfair / unlucky to make this statement in reply to one of Percy's posts (even with the :) - he is clearly one of the better posters on this board and his comment, while a bit harsh, was surely a lot of tongue in cheek), I think.

But I generally fully agree with your post - something to think about for all the Raph haters !

On topic, welcome to the Saints, Brett Peake !

what the ****, peake? i just don't get it

everyone we've traded for over the past few years would either waltz into our 22 or were steak knives. why peake? he wouldn't have gotten a game in the side we played against the hawks this year!

Ross hasn't been wrong too often. He will probably turn out to be a gun for us.

without making it sound that im bashing my own club here, you guys could very well have a bargain here.

26 yr old, 75 game player, who can perform when used right. Freo continually cant get it right, by managing to develop players for 4-5 years, only to let other clubs get the return of their hard work in their most damaging years...
look to clement/medhurst/bell/mcphee/sinclair if you want examples.

bag him all you want now, but personnally im in the minority of freo supporters who are sad to see peakey go

We'll find out the hard way I guess, but you are swimming against a tsunami of Freo supporters.

I think what everyone is forgetting is that peake was 3rd in the Freo best and fairest in the year they made the prelim (and beat the eagles who went on to be premiers in the derby in round 22)...
I am a saints supporter and dockers member (gf is dockers supporter) and I have watched peake play for many years... He is a very good player when playing in a good team, with good contested ball winners, people who can get him the ball cleanly and when he is confident in his targets inside 50.... the saints have all these attributes...
In 2006 bell, haselby and carr were winning the inside game and feeding him good ball... and he was delivering to pav up forward... this year they (dockers) have a bunch of kids in the middle and nothing up forward.. this has caused peak to become indecisive and not the player he once was... time will tell

Hold up a bit.

Does this mean Raph is no longer our whipping boy and Peake will be? I'm sure Raph will be totally stoked at his inclusion if so and Ross is a brilliant tactician to brng someone who can only boost Raphs confidence to the club!

Go team 2010!

So we just need someone to get him the ball cleanly , like Luke Ball... Oh.

Or Armitage, SS. I'm not worried at all about getting the hard ball.

And Boss, yeah, I'll take that on the chin a bit :) . Probably was being a little too cheeky. I just have the suspicion we've picked up the 2010 edition of Colm Begley here. Having said that, if I was being coached by Mark "wish my first name was Robert" Harvey, and then got trained by Ross Lyon, hey, anything can happen. To quote Miyagi from KK: "No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher - teacher say, student do."

I was intrigued by Strangle's point - it could well be that when he's actually GOT options, Peake is a gun. But I suspect he's a depth player, brought in for free for in case our other players in his role fall prey to injury.

Yeah I can't think who we would take out of the team to fit Peake in.
Ray?, but he's been pretty good. Baker if we didn't need a second tagger.

Peake wouldn't even get a game for Richmond.

Well, thank you for your contribution.

You should note, however, that:

- it's not a good idea to troll us (and/or our players) on our board; and

- given the current state of the Richmond FC, Peakey's grandfather would probably get a game for them.

Finally, to say it with our very own Milney : hush now !

cover for gram.

as i was reading previous posts, i recalled Grammie getting bagged for all the same reasons and my old man who has followed the saints since the late 50's saying you watch this guy. I kept saying he carn't even get into the team, and he nearly gets the norm smith, so lets wait and see, fiora & Charlie were never never ross' fault as sinora was from GT era and charlie was from the Kingy deal.

You can book mark this but i have a feeling he will play better for us than the purple sooks.

That's rich. That is the funniest post I've read since I've joined. He'd be Captain\Coach of your mob.

I dunno, Hardwick has that 80 year old bird in his corner for Peake to walk into the coaches role, maybe if he ran in then maybe, but does he have the endurance to dodge zimmer frames and the inevitable picketing of punt road if he did?

"Screw supporting our club, we don't Peake as coach! Everyone grab your pitchforks and lets hold the club to ransom!"

Glass houses and cannon shells and all that jazz would be applicable here I would think.:D

mate one of the best posts i've read for a while. Not sure how you worked it out but its to funny.

Lovett is 26, not 28. This is also the Saints board, and we don't tolerate other fans coming on here to post disrespectful stuff about our team.
hmm 11/11/82 makes him 28 at the end of next yr.so hes 27 for most of next yr.

and what was disrespectful about that just stating simple fact. he is skinny he is inconsistant he is outside and he is soft. i know we will just put our head in the sand shall we.
