Pendles Not a Great captain

Not often do i post and this is my first thread , BUT..

IMO Pendles is very lack lustre as captain and as supposedly our number 1 mid i very rarely think he will change the course of a game for us when were down.

In comparison to when swanny who in his prime was always a threat to bring us back into a game we were struggling in, even in his twilight he still had the same ability to do so.

also i think pendles kicking and skills has been over rated for a few seasons, yes he hits targets when in the back half to unmanned players but not that often does he spot up our forwards with intent. . i also think he is soft in the contest which i understand is not everyone's forte but as captain it should.

so overall i think he is a good player but not as good as he was maybe a few years ago and an average captain (well below nick maxwell)

Pendlebury is a different sort of Captain.

I think Collingwood has always traditionally suited, or at least I have personally, preferred more in the vein of G.Brown, T.Shaw, Burns, Ball etc...blue collar players but that's just one opinion of many.

Pendlebury is doing a good job and he'll almost certainly hand it over with perfect timing. As for the next Captain, personally, I would love to see Adams or even Treloar in future but they are obviously far too young..and the next Captain discussion is one that shouldn't happen for a while yet.

On a serious level, is Pendlebury carrying an injury as I really don't think he is paying to his standard or our expectations. Nothing to do with his captaincy..

I nominate this as the worse thread so far. And that's a big feat considering all the shit threads we've had since last nights game.

We have no other option.

This is part of the problem with the "rat pack" culture.

For the most part they existed as we had strong leaders like Buckley, Burns, Clement, Maxwell, Ball to keep everything heading in the right direction on field.

Our senior players that we have left - Cloke, Swan, Reid, Macaffer, N.Brown, Goldsack, Blair - none are strong leaders.

And the guys we offloaded - Beams, Thomas, Harry, Wellerz, Shaw - were more rat pack than leader.

It is why Hawthorn remain so strong, their best players are also great on field leaders.

Pendles is a gun. But his form in the 2 NAB games & his round 1 game are reasons for mild concern.
