It's not zero impact but it's very limited. Could a sub player do less than Chayce Jones has the last 5 weeks? Maybe, but it wouldn't be a significant output difference even if they never touched the ball at all.

The two players being replaced (Jones and Pedlar by Schoenberg and Murphy respectively) have done very little this year. Pedlar coming off his best game and I doubt Murphy is kicking 3 goals, but he's done very little outside of that game so it's not as though they are replacing highly productive roles. If Murphy had 8 touches and a goal he'd be matching the existing output. And importantly that lack of productivity from spots 22 and 23 hasn't stopped the club winning their last 7 games.

Top 4 is essentially sewn up with the round's results so far. Only Geelong, Brisbane, and Collingwood can mathematically pass Adelaide on points.

And beyond that the Bulldogs are the only ones who can challenge on percentage. But they are too far back to equal the points total.

In the case of the unlikely 2 Adelaide losses + 2 Gold Coast wins in remaining matches. Adelaide have roughly 300 points of net margin across the 4 games to play with. Assuming all other matches go to prediction. In the case of Hawthorn beating Brisbane, that gives Adelaide maybe 1 or 2 extra goals to play with.
