Lingy says Wright will get weeks.

You can tell Peter isn't in the boys club when the commentators are happy to hang, draw and quarter him within minutes.

One of the big names does the exact same thing and you can be sure the commentators would be saying stuff like

'he has to be allowed to protect himself in the contest'

'you don't want to lose all of the physicality in the game'

'he was leading at the ball, it was a football act'

Too bad Peter, you aren't in the club, so you've been thrown under the bus.

See you in four weeks 👍

He was jumping for the mark.
By the time he left the ground he'd taken his eyes off the ball. The ball was also at chest height lol. He has about 20cms on Cunningham who didn't need to leave the ground to reach it.

Gone. Had absolutely no need to leave the ground.
You’re allowed to jump up to mark a football.

Either way, I reckon it was pure instinct to protect himself from being cleaned up, by a guy that came at him from side on (from his blind spot, considering his eyes were on the ball).

Wrights eyes were on the ball (that was kicked to him, on the lead) and he would have only seen Cunningham at the last second, given he came at him from the side. Anything after that would be pure instinct to protect himself from being cleaned up.

Wright 100% has to be able to contest the ball that was kicked to him, and if anyone chooses to cut across his line- from a direction where he won’t be able to see him until the last moment, as his eyes are on the ball- then that guy IMO is significantly responsible for what happens to him as a result of that choice.

We play Essendon this week, but even so, I’ll hate it if this gets weeks.

Wright has to have every right to contest a ball that’s been kicked to him, and he then has to have every right to protect himself from anyone who chooses to charge at him from side-on (his blind spot), who he only sees at the last second.

Football is a CONTACT SPORT. I don’t think anyone did anything unreasonable here and then they made contact.

Hence a free kick not even being paid.

Maynard rule makes this an open and shut case of multiple weeks - the exact number to be determined - despite all the back and forth we will have to hear from people who can't accept reality.

You can disagree with the Maynard rule, but it exists. He simply won't get let off.

The Maynard "rule" is a cynical joke
Maynard only got off because he played for Collingwood in the finals

One of the worst Tribunal decisions.of the modern era

I eagerly await some responses from certain Essendon supporters who were very opinionated on their thoughts towards Brayden Maynard.

His eyes were on the ball the whole time.
The video and photo above shows that's just categorically not true.
