ANB did not say that about Nicks, so don't be silly.

There is a line starting from the dump zone Nicks inherited, ending in prelims or better. (Actual premierships are luck, FAR more so than minor premierships, which are a 23 game summary and NOT luck.) Finishing top 4 is huge progress along that line, in terms of a senior coach getting things right.

To demand the sacking of a coach who was within 12 months of delivering a minor premiership is Parade of Clowns territory, absolutely. Total numpty, don't-know-good-coaching-when-it-taps-you-on-the-nose territory.

Yeah Nicks has already had a very successful year and is safe for some time.

The pure talent of players got us to the pre-finals point, in spite of the coach and not because of him.

What will actually happen in 2026:
- decent start, let's say a 5-2. Contract extension. We make finals and have no impact, and we are well on our way to Ken 2.0 areas

- poor start, 3-6, part ways, caretaker coach, wasted season potentially sneaking into 7th or 8th.

It goes much further than that. As a member, we cannot remove John Olson or the board. Olden and the board won’t read the room and see the 2 finals loses as one of those things. They won’t identify his reluctance to develop players, especially the midfield. They will see the club finished top with 18 wins

We don’t have the opportunity to overthrow the board and we don’t have the opportunity to make any suggestions the coach should be fired.

We are just a club cash cow.

The stark contrast between coaches left in finals contention and Nix is, when they see something isn't working the player switch is immediate.
Unlike Nix who put Keane on Gunston in the first place, when he should have used Woz or even Michelanny, then doubles down like a complete fool and leaves him on him all game despite Keane copping a bath is one of the most obvious signs that Nix is one of the biggest problems.
Don't get me started on selections or finals game plan cause Nix is gonna sound like Mickey Mouse not a supposed AFL professional coach.

When you know someone is not up to the job, you remove them & find someone else.
